  1. Not when it's presented in my dining room, no. Rooting hard against any ice, especially given condition of a few bent pines around my house. I'm on a four bust streak here, happy for a fifth.
  2. Honestly, nothing unexpected with these storms given history. I lived not far from DCA for 15 years starting in the early 2000s and what you're describing is SOP. And the orientation and track of storms this year has not been good for areas around and below DCA's latitude. It's not just BL temps that have been poor, the upper levels haven't worked out either. We're not doing any better out here in Fairfax. We had less than DCA here for this one... about 0.1" at best.
  3. Mix of snow and sleety rain but the trees are just wet so remains above freezing at surface in Fairfax.
  4. Trends always go the wrong way for the DC area, it's not really a question of verbatim or not. But I would agree that the models aren't the problem. In my personal opinion, the problem is the forecast office personnel who keep putting out unrealistic short-term forecasts. Busting low consistently for years means something isn't working right.
  5. Kids came by and asked if they could clear my driveway!?
  6. Know your climo, use your experience, and keep your mouth shut. 1" here but melting fast, currently light snow.
  7. Snowing very lightly in Fairfax, have about 4 inches total.
  8. Light snow picking up again hopefully get an inch or so. I see my hometown in NJ is passing 26" already with a ton more to come. May be an all timer there.
  9. Even down here in Fairfax flakes are mixing in with the sleet when showers pass through. It's a mix of big flakes and sleet right now. But only very light off and on.
  10. Try that here and you'll get banned. Although it's historically the best approach to forecasting. 95% experience and probabilities, 5% guidance Never made it over 3 inches here anyway.
  11. Still just flurries here in Fairfax and under 2 inches... off to Costco and Wegmans to do some shopping. Hope I can make it...
  12. Flurries, don't know the temperature, maybe 1.5" in Fairfax.
  13. Nothing unexpected from this storm with a B-like more northerly evolution... we've all seen it before, despite the concern expressed by neighbors to the north who live in different climates. My only regret this year is not buying an epic pass so I could enjoy some real snow.
  14. Keep going, you've attracted all the right people.
  15. Pouring rain at 33... maybe flood watch will verify?
  16. Wet rain continues... making it hard to see out my window.
  17. That sleet line is jamming north now; family just turned over in Sterling.
  18. Mostly rain now, took about 30 mins to transition over here.
  19. 90% sleet now, got about an inch+ of snow. Better than my old snowhole though in Alexandria which looks like zilch as usual.
