I know it’s the NAM but it looked to be doing something completely different than other runs. I’m too dumb to guess.
The one day I was wishing the NAM ran to 90.
Or even just 87!

Local mets here in central VA agree with the guidance. My biggest remaining question is how much damage the rain does to our glacier.

Waves just screaming through over the weekend. This one tries to get up the coast but like the other system right before it, gets kicked OTS.
Wild to watch storms try to get it together and run up but get shoved away.

Sterling is at least taking it seriously... and also how low the confidence is.

I would have never made a post like that. Wow, you’ve got balls lol
Having basically already hit climo, I'm playing with house money. Might as well press my luck

I'm used to a quick 12", unfortunately i can't relate.
Going in and out fast, just like the storms this week.

This was the main road yesterday at the height of the storm, just before changeover to sleet. Now completely clear

I think we managed to stay at or below freezing all night. No evidence of any FRZ overnight. Just a glacier out there, but the road crews realllly overcompensated for their failures in the prior big storm.
Main drag is now not only driveable, but pavement is clearly visible! Almost time to shovel out. Need a bit more coffee...
The gym was closed this morning due to weather, but now I don't even need to go in.
It was back day but smashing through that glacier and clearing the sidewalk, my steps and space around my gigantic van was a 90+ minute back and leg workout.
That stuff is extremely heavy and difficult to move around. Holy smokes. Within 10 minutes I had stripped off my jacket.
Now well over freezing. Everyone *should* be able to go back to school and work tomorrow.

Dry slot is here in Charlottesville. Might have escaped with minimal icing, which is a welcome change. Almost no power outages.
Right at the freezing mark or thereabouts. A very enjoyable Sunday storm I must say. Will be interesting to see conditions in the morning. Peace!

The band that came though here about 30 mins ago to end it was some of the heaviest sleet I've ever seen
And now currently "unknown precipitation" according to NWS.
My personal favorite.

Local totals from Charlottesville/Albemarle.
Pretty solidly forecasted.

This sleet is so heavy it sounds like hail, not just your standard pingers.

Glacier building happening in Cville. Heavy sleet after 4-5" of snow.
22/19
Official spotter had 3.1" at 3:16pm. So I think our measurements of 4-5 or so depending on the drift is about right. That last hour was WILD.

BIG flakes mixing back in with the sleet. So it may not be entirely over for people when they see a switch over.
I gotta say I have never seen it sleet at 22F.- 3

Changeover has happened. Some flakes still in there but not pouring buckets of sleet.
Probably got a good 4.5" of snow before that though.
I'll take it.

Absolutely ripping in Charlottesville. Hoping we can keep this up till ~6pm

Yeah it is WILD.
If we had a little more wind it would be positively crazy.
At least 3” on the ground. 23F at my location. SN+
CHO reports “heavy snow”
Love it.

2" of wind blown cold powder in Lynchburg. Still moderate/heavy snow, but I don't know how much more time of all snow I have left. Surface temperature hasn't budged since onset - 17 degrees.
Not as much snow in Cville but the temp situation has been the same. If anything temps inched DOWN as the precip came in. Now at 18F

This is still absolutely cold smoke here in Cville. Very unusual.

Jan 21 - 22 Weekend SE VA and Eastern Shore Snow
in Mid Atlantic
Posted
I mean for wishcasting, not for anything reasonable.
24 hours before the last storm the NAM said I was gonna strike out on snow and have 0.75" of ice.
Suffice to say that did not happen.
