Yeah, the ocean is very warm almost everywhere. Tropical systems shouldn't have too much trouble with strength, at least as far as the ocean is concerned.
It's been one wet start to July. Dew point on Friday peaked at 79.4F and I'm up to 4.7 inches of rain in a week. Only one day without measurable rainfall. Actually only had two days reach 90F, though. It's currently 83.9, 73.
Here's the non cell phone photo of the tornado warned storm in GloCo this afternoon. There was a wall cloud with this storm, but the rotation was weakening as I arrived. Was still an ominous looking storm with a low base and lots of scud.
Chased the tornado warned storm in GloCo. There was some nice rotation when I arrived, but it mostly lost it a couple minutes after. I'm still on the storm and it's still good looking.
Getting lots of rain in Gloucester County. My station has meaured 0.90 inches in less than an hour and another station about a mile north of mine is up to 1.4 inches. Roads are like lakes.
Dealing with the same storm now. Velocity was showing severe winds but they only hit the surface at 38 MPH, at least at my station. Very little lightning here. Decent rain, though.
That's gotta be the shortest duration tornado (over an area), ever. There was nothing. 4 seconds later the backyard was destroyed. Then, there was nothing.
According to my weather station, I picked up 0.69 inches in about 40 minutes this morning. Up to 1.43" now. It's only been raining for a little over 4 hours. Currently 55.5F.
