  1. Good storms. Not much in the way of wind or hail, but the lightning is great. Seems like as soon as something appears on radar, it's already producing CG strikes. Just shy of 1 inch of rain today.
  2. Hopefully we get some good ones. Those Saharan red sunsets can get pretty epic.
  3. I haven't seen this kind of rain in years. The "CR" on my map is my weather station. Measuring almost nothing there, but it's torrential here.
  4. Under a flash flood warning here. Has to be between 1-1.5 inches in the last 30 minutes. My weather station is a mile away from my current location and it has only measured 0.22".
  5. Didn't get any sun down here today and the high so far is 71.
  6. Heat index is 103. At least there's a breeze.
  7. Getting a couple short downpours now. Dropped the temp by 7 degrees.
  8. 86F + DP 74 = Disgusting No storms, either.
  9. And it just turned into a giant blob of never ending rain. Been raining for hours now with what looks like hours left.
  10. Snuck up on me. lol. Looks much more menacing on radar than it really is. The strongest radar indicated winds (60 mph) moved right over me, but it only translated to 37 mph on the ground. Lots of IC lightning, though. Edit:. Looks like there's more to the SW that'll be heading towards South Jersey. Not sure if I'll be up for that or not, but I'll keep the camera on standby.
  11. Yeah, I definitely laughed out loud a bunch. Laserdisc. Wow. lol Independence Day and Jurassic Park must have sounded great. It's a total movie. And hilariously inaccurate. "It's the cone of silence"..? Seriously? And they had the NWS help them out, too. I've actually lost a couple degrees. Peaked at 88F, down to 86. Dew point is down to 64.
  12. Since this movie was referenced yesterday, figured I'd share. For anybody that wants a good laugh.
  13. Yeah, the potential flooding as well. I was listening to NOAA WR ahead of the derecho and I heard, "moving east at 90 mph". It took a couple seconds before it registered.......wait, did I hear that right? Had to go look for myself. It's not very often you see those kind of speeds.
  14. Thanks. I shot that photo only a couple miles from my house. I headed out when the storm moved into Jersey figuring I had some time, but the southern part of that storm bowed out a bit and accelerated. I couldn't believe how quickly it was on top of me. I had to grab my camera and run out into the field before I missed it. I think that storm may have been topped near 40 kft, but I may be mistaken.
  15. Here's the second and the better of the two storms today. This storm really accelerated out of nowhere. I almost missed it altogether.
  16. Wicked! Looks like a wet microburst. A very, very wet microburst. lol That's a lot of rain.
  17. Finally a day with really good storms. Was able to photograph some epic looking storms during the day and now I'm on my way back from the Delaware Bay where I was able to get some night lightning shots (and some mosquito bites) of a distant (20 miles) storm. Feels like it's been forever.
  18. lol. I shot a quick video of the hail we got here and in the video I said, "Hail. We've got hail." Wonder if anybody will make the connection to Twister.
  19. Quick cell phone pano as I was getting blasted by winds.
  20. What a good storm! Non stop lightning and pea sized hail. It moved in so fast I got caught in it. Had to run through some thorns to get back to my car, have cuts all over my legs, but I think the photos will be worth it!
  21. Right in the path of it. Nice sea breeze approaching as well.
  22. Yeah, it's like walking outside and right into a wet cotton ball. Very Orlandoish.
