  1. I will embrace it fully when such a ridiculous anomaly finally happens, here on the moist coastal plain. As long as my damn leaves are raked in time!
  2. Yeah pardon my sensible weather bias right now but let’s try and keep some of that nasty, frozen slop away for at least another couple weeks or so. There’s still another round or two of dreaded leaf cleanup to take care of around these parts. Thankfully the biggest bunches are out of the way but those last dozen or so loads can be a real pain in the ol rump with frozen shizzle added into the equation.
  3. Yeah I did the same thing yesterday to a couple of those little buggers, couldn’t believe it! I wonder if there’s some sort of record on this board for the latest anyone has encountered a dreaded mosquito either inside or out. We must be getting close to record territory by now.
  4. Man it’s soupy out there..if you were to add a little more sun and another hour of daylight you’d have me thinking it’s late summer or perhaps mid spring. Days and days of sultry dews lie ahead as extended summer continues!
  5. Days of doom and gloom. Wake me up when we hit 70 again! This chilly and windy weather gets old very fast. What is this early April?
  6. I distinctly remember several Halloweens being in the 70s as a kid. So for now, we stay the course and keep the warm vibes going. Keep those acs crankin baby!
  7. What a seamless transition into dewtempber it has been and one that will soon be replaced by sweaty days of raking dried up leaves and tumble weeds in spooky swampasstober..what a glorious sight it will be!
  8. After last years pre-Halloween super nor’easter that took out dozens of trees in our hood leading to over a week without power and quite literally being stranded for nearly that same amount of time, I’m not too keen on experiencing any further destructive storms for the foreseeable future. Let’s just keep the moisture coming in reasonable amounts so we don’t end up looking like Phoenix come next spring. If it takes a little tropical system (Sans the destructive winds) to deliver the goods, then I’ll take that as well!
  9. Just steamy and warm out atm..75 to be exact with the usual low 70 dews. Wouldn’t mind a little moisture to wash away some of the crusty brown patches at the corner of the yard!
  10. Heck of a storm here..the winds were whipping for a while, heavy downpours you know all that fun stuff. But man that lightning is really something else, def caught me off guard on a couple of occasions. The poor dog can’t handle these types of storms, really gotta feel for the pets as they have no idea what’s going on. Nice shots btw kev and everyone else!
  11. Getting some good rain with plenty of booms all around. You love to see it! Keep it coming baby..
  12. Man haven’t seen a good moisture release like that since at least mid June..we def will take a quick 1” or so. Hope the love train spreads to more thirsty peeps here in phoen- I mean southern ne!
  13. Yep, about the same situation here. Winds were practically dead when I had the dog out a couple hours ago and within the last half hour we've had a couple rumbles of thunder, a quick downpour, and now the winds are blowing consistently. Those temps felt friggin amazing today..what a treat for early december. Glad I could get out and enjoy it before the door is slammed shut once again.
  14. Well all clowning aside, after last October's coastal cane which seemingly took out half the trees and lines on our street, I'd be okay with just a few inches of snow Christmas morning only for the inevitable afternoon slushfest to take its place. Ah yes, another Christmas of yore in southern NE..but yeah, tame/stable weather isn't always a negative thing, especially when you have all sorts of other responsibilities that take precedent. (ie blowing away the last few frozen leaves into the woods)
  15. I'll take 60 right through Thanksgiving tbh..perfect temp for leaf cleanup and spending time with family in the yard. Nothing worse than throwing around the ol football when its rock solid and eventually getting smashed in the face between bottles of beer.
  16. Well then, I stand corrected mr cider connoisseur. Now if you’ll excuse me allow me get back to my jug of store brand sweet cider while reminiscing of warm, long days on the beach. Good day sir
  17. Just think, another month and a few weeks until the pendulum slowly starts swinging the other way. Good for us folks who like the dews and hazy, lazy days. Until then, we endure and sip on hard apple ciders to keep SAD at bay.
  18. Power just came back here a few hours ago, internet+cable still down at least until mon but could be worse. I’m honestly surprised at how quickly things were restored here considering the scope of the damage but as someone previously mentioned, the outages seemed to be concentrated mostly over the south shore down to the cape which probably helped speed things up. But man what a interesting time this has been..I and many others will certainly remember this storm for many years to come.
  19. Oh yeah, that's not surprising. I'm in the northeast part of town, pretty close to the Scituate line so we're in that sweet spot for strong winds and ocean enhanced snow/rain. Just got back from a little walk and it's eery how it looks with barely any lights on, especially for a Friday night. All you can hear is the humming of gennies and the crunching of downed tree branches..I think it's safe to say Halloween is cancelled in this town.
  20. Ok, I think the pic finally loaded this time. This was before the crews arrived yesterday for the initial sweep but it def gives you a sense of how bad we were mauled during the storm. I actually took a little vid but unfortunately the size is too large to post. Wires are still down across much of the street and apparently another storm is on the way for tomorrow. For now we continue to cleanup and pray for restoration..
  21. Wow that’s incredible..yeah I do but nothing wants to load right now with the terrible hotspot connection I’m on. Both power and internet were knocked out, which almost never happens. Lines and wire are still strewn about our street but at least the road is passable now. The south shore really took this on the nose, just crazy to see.
  22. The siege has finally been broken in our hood as the tree crews arrived this morning..you would not believe the scene here, looked like a warzone with at least a couple dozen large trees down and numerous wires just smashed. Def saw a couple low flying choppers probably assessing the damage and coordinating efforts..I can only imagine how long it’s going to take to get things up and running but we’re just grateful to have a sturdy genny for now taking care of the essentials. Freak storms like this really put things in perspective. I’ll let tip handle the rest with his far superior grasp of the English language and literary skills lol.
  23. Appreciate that, but trust me this isn’t nearly as fun as jumping in feet of powdery snow drifts. Will be shutting off the ol genny app and then it’s back to the sound of silence..for now we embrace the colonial spirit
  24. What a mess out there today. I’m posting this pic from our hood in honor of Kevin. Let’s bring em back up before the cabin fever sets in. Seriously, the roads are literally impassable around here. Looks like a friggin tornado went through and it sure sounded like it last night. Edit: well crap it doesn’t want to load, but once the internet is restored I’ll have a goodies to post from the madness around here..still can’t get over that 87 mph gust nearby, absolutely insane
  25. Have been without power here since about 9p yesterday..just lost internet as well a few minutes ago. Must’ve been a transformer off in the distance as those flashes were unmistakable..It’s unbelievable how intense the winds are, never thought it’d get this bad. This will probably be the biggest for the next several months the way things have gone lol..might try and get some pics later depending on conditions. Take care everyone, these winds have to let up at some point.
