2 months of long range ensembles saying we’ll get a broad bowl overrunning pattern. Would fit that it finally arrives in April.
Does a "overrunning pattern" actually exist during the cold months? I remember it like once in my life lol. It's mentioned a lot though.

That band filling in out west looks pretty solid. Might be able to steal another inch. And the quality of the snow should be better as well. Temps are nice and cold out here. We'll see.
I'm thinking the same for here as well. I'm at 27.8. Wind is blowing snow around like powder. I think this next round will probably give us NW fokes a little more fun. Flakes seem to be increasing already.

28 deg now and moderate snow. Up to 4”. If hrrr is right should squeeze out another 1-3” up here in Westminster.
That's what I have here. I slant sticked 4.5" but I'm going with 4 for now. Another 1-3 would be sweet.

Temp 32, measured a half inch. Driveway is turning white in spots. Parkton
Crazy the difference being west makes. Over here the grass is gone and roads are ready for plows. 29.9 with blizzard conditions.

Heavy blowing snow and a temp of 29. Looks like the morning of March 93 out there right now. Looks like we're working on 2" already.

Parrs Ridge is looking sexy this morning. Holy crap! 32.1 and steady dropping. Winds and snow are ripping. Best conditions I've seen this season.

Getting missiles here on the ridge right now. Not much sleet. Just basically rain to blizzard.

I'm liking my new climo here in the highlands a lot this evening.

I'm up in the Catoctins as I type. Really cool up here. It's like a mini Skyline Drive. No snow at all then suddenly snow-covered ground probably about 1300' or so. I'd say about an inch on the ground at the highest points.

Different world in the Catoctins on days like this.
A few mixed in flakes when I left Smithsburg.
All snow in the catoctins with snow laying on everything with slush on the roads.
Probably closing in on an inch up there.
Get to Thurmont and it's just rain with a few mangled wet flakes mixed in.
Headed over to the Catoctins right now to check it out. I'll report back.

Missiles with a dropping temp. Now 36.4

Was 39. Now 38.3
It's happening lol

38 here at 938' and starting to rain. I'd call snow tv a win if it happens up here.
-
.04" of rain so far today with winds gust to probably at least 40mph right now.

Yeah Mount Manchester will have orographically enhanced continuous deathbands with a temp of 32.5, while the surrounding areas will be 34.7 with snow tv and light mulch coverings when it comes down harder.
That's actually how it works too. That's how it is where I live now. I live at one of the highest points on the southern part of the ridge. That ice storm a couple weeks ago was crazy. Trees and branches down at our place at 938' and down the hill a mile it is much less and always 2-3 degrees warmer. It's weird compared to what I'm use to at swamp lol

I think you will see these number increase for the ridges but not increase in terms of coverage area. This looks like elevation snow. Elliot knob should do well here.
Maybe on Parrs Ridge too I'm hoping.

First day of Met Spring, but yes it can still snow. I am kinda over it, but I wont complain if we get something like March 2018. Otherwise January was 'the month' of winter, as it should be, and it delivered at least for eastern areas. I will reserve an overall grade for another couple weeks, but December gets a D and January a solid A. Each winter month has to be weighted, and December is more of a Fall month in these parts and usually does not produce significant snowfall. February is easily an F, with less than an inch of frozen here, after nearly 20" in January.
I give my first winter in Carroll County an F lol. Pretty lame with maybe 10" for the season. Yes winter isn't over N&W but who cares about snow that melts the same day. Give me cold and wintery or bring on spring.

Sounds like the northern end of the county did better. Pretty boring AA county type winter I'm use too on the southern part.

It’s a sure sign of some soft closings when you’re at 50% of average climo and all the snow days are gone.
Carroll County is talking about how they have no snow days left. We've had like 8" in a place that averages 30-35" lol.
-
Pretty significant ice storm here last night and this morning. Temp stuck at 30.2 all night along with periods of heavy freezing rain.
-
Heavy freezing wind driven rain and 29.3 degrees. Ice is building up really fast. This is one of those events I'm glad I'm up here in high Carroll County. This is fun. I'm watching icicles growing before my eyes.

Probably stay 29-30 overnight. I expect to see decent icing tomorrow early for work .
Same thinking here. I'm at 30.2 and icy. We get pretty cold at my elevated location so I'm thinking 28-29 here.

Warm air must be moving in aloft because it's actually warmer here then there. I've noticed this since I've been here. Days where warmer air is moving in it's warmer here at higher elevation. One morning back in December it was 41 here but down the road in this little river valley it was frosty and 31.
