aggiegeog
Looks like we are in for an epic winter storm this weekend across much of Texas. Front crashes through on Friday turning rain to freezing rain north to south Friday into Saturday. Areas along and north of I-20 may get lucky and its more sleet and snow. Along and north of I-10 looks very icy. Snow and mixed showers extend into Sunday morning for east and SE TX. Monday lows across N and NE TX could well approach 0. More snow or mix could be in the cards for the middle of next week also.

FWD NWS wording this morning in their AFD was some of the strongest wording I've ever seen for day 5/6 potential event. Remarkable that the NBM has 1.5 inches of QPF. I'm not ready to go as cold as you yet, but I absolutely think severe cold (i.e temps 10 or colder) is on the table, especially if we get snow and ice. Regardless, if we get over an inch of QPF with temps in the teens and 20s would make for quite the winter storm! Our record warm winter is about to be turned around. I can't help but also see another surge of Arctic air around Feb 1.
aggiegeog
Also watch for when the parent upper low crosses the state early week. That could be a snow maker.
Stx_Thunder
2025 is over folks. I had already started a 2026 thread for that exact reason (back on New Years Day) here: https://www.americanwx.com/bb/topic/62492-texas-2026-discussionobservations/ So I don't know why posts are still being made in here. And I've sent a request to lock this 2025 thread (rather than just delete it).
