tropical history question

Recommended Posts

I did not want to clog the Sandy thread with this question. I seem to remember a hurricane in the Bay of Campeche about 3 (?) seasons back whose winds were not particularly strong given how low the pressure was. The winds caught up, IIRC, right before landfall. Am I remembering this correctly and if so which storm was it?

(Not a Sandy comparison but it has been bugging me off and on for a little bit now)

I just went through the history of the past few years and I think it was Alex I was remembering as being deeper than the winds would indicate. But looking at the history, I think I was wrong.

Alex was a 981mb TS and then 958mb 75kts cat 1 and hit as a 95kts cat2 with 946mb
