7.2 Earthquake hits Turkey

Istanbul, Turkey (CNN) -- A major earthquake knocked several buildings down in eastern Turkey on Sunday, trapping citizens under debris in Van Province, the Anatolian news agency reported. The buildings collapsed in central Van, in the village of Tabanli, the report said. It was unknown how many people were trapped.

A seven-story building collapsed on Kazim Karabekir Street in Van, according to Anatolian, the state news agency.
