old man winter Posted May 9, 2011 Share Posted May 9, 2011 I don't usually post here, I am a obsessed weather observer, but usually have little to offer you guys. I have to post this event that occured yesterday to get your oppinion of what happened. I went Salmon fishing on Winnipesakee with a buddy in a 18 foot aluminum boat. All was well unitl it began raining at around 1pm. No observed Thunderstorms. I heard a ticking coming from the fishing net in a holder. As my buddy grabbed it he got a good Zap. I grabbed my fishing rod and got a powerful zap. everything I touched was discharging. This lasted for at least 3-minutes. This initally was interpeted as a short in the wiring or something. We shut the boat down but the shocks continued. We were freaked and started the boat and hightailed it to the boat ramp. Anybody every hear about an event like this. Would simply shutting down the boat's motor been enough if there was a short originating at the battery's terminals? Interesting, catch any?
