thanks for proving y’all are just fat shaming.

FYI I was categorized as obese.  After covid suspended a lot of what all of us can do normally, I changed my lifestyle by choice.  I didn’t want to be obese.

So I guess I fat shame myself?  Troll on bro.

yep that mom who commutes 2 hours each way by bus is going to raring to exercise when her kids are asleep at 10 pm.

Clearly everyone has their opinions and can make up excuses.

I am glad you have the time, that doesn't mean that everyone does.

Either way all this discussion is way off topic of the purpose of the thread anyways.

I didn’t have the time.  I made the time. I work 10 hour days and my wife works as well. I have two kids.  It’s not easy.  Its priorities.

Fasting is a fad diet that tends to lead toward more food cravings. I have taken part in diets like that before and it tends to work but overwhelming hunger. Diets should still be well balanced small meals and small portion sizes combined with exercise.

Now that’s BS.  It’s NOT a diet at all.

there’s a crap ton of science behind that, beyond the scope of this thread.

Do you trust kids to be safe and smart at a playground/park? It is simple to say that it is available.

I don’t send my kids, I go with them.

class and lifestyle is irrelevant. Yeah I know not all neighborhoods are safe but give me a break. Most people can find 20-30 mins out of their day to do this.  People don’t try

Guess what buddy, covid is impacting everyone, so dietary issues are irrelevant. It was already debunked in this thread when another poster wanted to roll in and fat shame people. Like I said if you want to talk dietary issues, there is an Off Topic subforum here, go there and post to your heart's content.

Not necessarily. If you suffer from high blood pressure, high cholesterol, pre-diabetes, etc, this pause in life because of covid has more than allowed people to adjust their lifestyles.

fasting is a great example.  A 12-18 fast does wonders for your body which strengthens your immune system which allows you to fight any virus better.  Doesn’t give you immunity but helps your body.

for all the talk about co-morbidity with covid, health and lifestyle choices seem to play a big role in the outcome. Some preventable, some not.

Really starting to grasp at straws in finding things to do out of the house. Two very young kids (4&1).

We ordered some crafts for my kids to work on. Clay projects too.  There are some drawing videos on YouTube as well.

say you’re a single mom who works. what 20 minutes do you spend walking around the block, assuming you live in a neighborhood that is safe?

Can your kids walk?  There’s buses and trains that go by parks?

the easy, lazy way out is to say it’s not accessible when if you try, anything is accessible.

Agree and disagree.  I'd say eating healthy is a privilege, but exercising not as much.  You don't need to set aside hours a day to benefit from exercise, and you don't even need equipment.  There is the saying that "you can't outtrain a bad diet," and calories add up quickly if you're living on junk/fast food, which can certainly make staying in shape more difficult, but not impossible.

Considering that a lot of people could stand to lose 50-100 pounds, it's more of a longer term/general health goal and not something that going to help much in this current round of covid.

    This is true.

Exercise is something simple as going for a daily walk for 20 minutes or what I have done over the last 6 months is run more.  All it takes is a pair of shoes.

  10. Some of you might not care about this because it does mention the word science.

Most coronavirus cases are spread by people without symptoms, CDC now says

Most coronavirus infections are spread by people who have no symptoms, the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said in newly updated guidance.

It's one of the main reasons mask use is so important, the CDC said.
"Most SARS-CoV-2 infections are spread by people without symptoms," the agency said in a section of its website devoted to explaining the science of how to use masks to control the spread of the virus.

No I don't, I would have if I was symptomatic and it came back as negative.

Glad to hear.  Indeed a somewhat frightening and frustrating experience when it's someone you were in contact with at work.

  12. IL's positivity rate is going in the right direction, today only.  One day  doesn't make a trend so we'll see.  Again, I enjoy those who say that of course there are more cases because we are testing more... uh, okay so today the positivity rate is in the 8s vs. the 12s it was in for the past few days, but yet the number of tests is still around 100k per day.  Percentages are more meaningful than flat numbers.
