The problem is, the changeover is always underdone as to how far north it goes. I have seen plenty of systems where up till a day out we were supposed to be snow here, and even the day we were supposed to be the mix like...and the sleet/zr line made it all the way up to I-80. I was at SRU during the Valentine’s Day storm I thing in the mid 00’s and even Pittsburgh was supposed to be all snow but we mixed all the way up to there. If that is what is showing now, I feel really pessimistic about a big snow event. I always push the mix line about 50 miles north.

Actually, we got an 8-12 incher in March haha. That said. I put the chances at: 1:60 2.35 3.5

I think we are all just waiting for the blanket to be pulled out from underneath us....hoping it doesn’t happen, but if we went with 5 day models we’d have 150 inches of snow a year. I’m convinced SWPA is the worst place east of the Mississippi and north of the Carolinas for big storms.

Watch pitt basketball. They have a young team that will lose a bunch of ACC games, but they are exciting and have some really good freshman talent at guard.

So not much activity in my thread, but gfs was showing a couple of possible winter weather threats late next week. always exciting to start tracking the first threats of the year.

This is the second year on a row we have had storms hold onto tropical characteristics extremely close to Europe. Ophelia last year and now Leslie. Just an observation, but I wonder if we are getting to the point where a fully tropical land falling system in Western Europe is possible?

Getting away from the lunacy, in the grand scheme of things we were relatively lucky where this hit. It is only a matter of time until a cat 4 slams straight into Houston, New Orleans, or anywhere in the Florida peninsula and will make every storm before it look like child’s play. I

I know people kind of idolize josh on here, but it is so dumb. It also encourages amateurs to try as well. Would any chaser drive into an ef3 tornado? That is essentially what they are doing here, adding it will last for hours, and surge. It is is extremely irresponsible.

Going to Mexico beach is possibly the dumbest thing someone can do right now. They could end up with cat 4 sustained winds and a 10+ foot surge. completely ridiculous.
