  1. It is either going to reclaim the title of king...or be extremely wrong again.
  2. Even if the euro holds serve I have no faith in it to be correct after the January debacle.
  3. Screw this winter...honestly screw every winter here. I’m so sick of missing 6-12 inch storms by 100 miles on every side of us. I don not want another 2-4 inch event.
  4. 2-4 inches...which is our speciality here. I’d honestly rather get nothing at this point. I have things to do Sunday, and this won’t be enough snow to cancel plans but enough to make it a pain in my butt to get around.
  5. So after missing the last big storm 50-100 miles to the north, it is looking more and more like this one will be 50-100 miles south. The euro still shows a good hit but it is slowly caving to the other models. Maybe the euro will be right and stay where it is at, but I have little confidence after the January storm where it showed a foot the day before and it rained all day instead.
  6. It is ripping right now. Snow plus with probably a quarter mile or less visibility.
  7. This escalated pretty quickly. Seeing moderate snow.
  8. I am fairly perplexed by the NWS forecast for overnight. I’d say 1-3 inches across AGC north to south, and 2-4 with possibly 5 down to the WV border. There should absolutely be advisories points south of AGC.
  9. The wind storm was one of the most impressive I can remember. Given official gusts that are only taken at one specific spot, I would not be shocked in the least if there were a few 70mph gusts scattered through the region. The main thing I take from this is that if we ever get a wind storm like this in a month where there is foliage, the damage would be pretty catastrophic. Whether it be an early fall mega storm or a tropical system, it would take down a ton more trees. A lot of the trees down were pines, so just imagine all trees carrying a ton of extra weight with leaves. Also, agree with the statements upthread..it was dumb to cancel the warning. I think in general the NWS could use some common sense on issuance of warnings. For example, last weeks snow event was about as impactful as we ca have in a short period, and the timing was awful. The normal person though sees advisory rather than warming and thinks it won’t be that bad.
  10. I think I’d rather have a root canal and a colonoscopy at the same time than fly tomorrow evening.
  11. 2/5-2/6 2010 was pretty intense. Basically got our best snows in a 12 hour window from 5pm-5am. Rates in that period were pretty consistently between 1-2 inches per hour as we got under multiple deform bands. Hopefully one day we can get a storm with rates like this morning over a 12 hour period.
  12. I’ve actually flipped back to snow, which is surprising.
  13. I’m a bit north of the city and getting crushed. South is mixing with sleet.
  14. Because it is Pittsburgh... I’ve managed to hold onto all snow so far.
