Likely a tornado lol
I know, right?
Kansas has been struggling to produce tornadoes of that quality for years now

Did y’all see the video from the Lewisetta, VA tornado? Wow.

@high risk can explain better but you see a curved hodograph on the left indicating supercell potential and very strong helicity (SRH on the right) in the lowest levels of the atmosphere.
Looks like a nice tornado profile if you have the other ingredients (moisture, instability, so on).
More on hodographs here: https://www.weather.gov/media/lmk/soo/Hodographs_Wind-Shear.pdf

Cell south of Comer, GA looks like it could get a tor warning if that circulation keeps up. Just a lot of rotation today generally.
-
Two more tor warnings up in Georgia. One reissued on the earlier cell NE of Athens and one on the previously severe warned storm south of Monticello. Active wx day and the Texas stuff hasn’t popped yet (another subforum I know).
-
Both warnings dropped.

Mesoscale Discussion 0491 NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK 1203 PM CDT Mon May 03 2021 Areas affected...north central Georgia into northern and central South Carolina Concerning...Tornado Watch 127... Valid 031703Z - 031830Z The severe weather threat for Tornado Watch 127 continues. SUMMARY...Threat for isolated tornadoes will persist another couple hours over north central Georgia. Severe threat is expected to develop eastward into northern and central South Carolina this afternoon where another WW will be needed soon. DISCUSSION...Storms continue developing along several east-west oriented boundaries across north central GA where the environment remains favorable for occasional supercells with low-level mesocyclones and isolated tornadoes. The atmosphere is destabilizing from the southwest across central and north central GA into central SC. Low-level hodographs will remain sufficient for supercells with isolated tornadoes as the low-level jet continues to shift northeast through northern GA and into western and central SC while the atmospheres destabilize from the south and west. ..Dial/Grams.. 05/03/2021 ...Please see www.spc.noaa.gov for graphic product... New tornado warnings up NE of Athens, GA and SW of Charlotte. Hard to get a read on both cells via radar. GA cell looks good though with a strong couplet.

Tds is gone, looked weaker...never had PDS attached to it.
Hopefully the damage wasn’t too bad. The TDS looked pretty strong at one point before Atlanta proper.

And don't bank on it being weaker looking, couplets like this last night produced major damage in MS.

Yeah, definitely a dangerous situation. Missed my family by like 10 miles.

Just a few minutes ago I said that one would become worthy of a warning. It had acquired some rotation right after passing my parents’ place.
Stay safe down there today.

Ok I’ve got questions. Don’t laugh lol.
1. how was that made2. it almost looks like it’s pulling moisture off of trees as it approaches. Like mist being sucked in. What is that?
It was drone footage. Definitely some of the best I've seen. The tornado would have been virtually impossible to see without it.
As for the second question, I want to say that what we're seeing is really strong inflow, but after watching it a few times I think it's the larger circulation of the tornado. I'm not as well versed as others, but it looks like the Bear's Cage to me: basically the precipitation wrapping around the updraft, with the actual tornado (condensation funnel) in the center.

Sharing this here because it’s truly incredible. You can even see trees start falling as the tornado approaches.

We really need another bomb cyclone sometime soon. Hopefully such a thing is still possible.
I knew you’d recognize it.
Such a great storm. Pure whiteout conditions under that band of S++

There have been a few. It's very localized. We've been in many severe thunderstorm warnings but neither wind or hail verify at our location. But someone does.
March 02, 2018 was a rare event and it was quite widespread not only in coverage but duration.
Aside from tropical, last time we had really widespread gusts 70+ would have been 12/28/1988!
Tropical?

Thanks! I had some major arm soreness after shot 1 but no other issues. I know everyone reacts differently though.
I had serious arm soreness after shot 1 that began as minor 3 hours after the shot and progressed to pain in the joint about 12 hours after the shot. Really interesting how everyone reacts differently.

please report back tomorrow about how you feel. I get my second next week.
I was out of it for 24 hours with arm soreness (less than the first shot though), fatigue, chills, and a headache, but it was better than I expected.
Arm soreness came three hours after the shot, the other symptoms came approximately 12 hours after the shot.

From their website:
- Full Wind Restrictions (sustained wind speeds exceeding 50 mph for a continuous period of 10 mins or more; or wind gusts persistently exceed 50 mph over a period of 15 mins) only automobiles, pickup trucks, flatbed trailers, commercial buses and heavy-laden tractor/trailers are permitted to cross the bridge. Tractor-box trailer combinations will not be permitted to cross any bridge if the gross weight is less than 64,000 pounds.
- Traffic Holds/Bridge Closure (sustained wind speeds exceeding 55 mph for a continuous period of 10 mins or more; or wind gusts persistently exceed 55 mph over a period of 15 mins) In the event of a sudden increase of sustained wind speeds or wind gusts that could jeopardize life or property, the MDTA may elect to discontinue the movement of all traffic across the bridge.
So I can see them limiting two-way traffic tomorrow, but not fully close. That's only happened a few times during hurricanes/tropical storms.
Tropical?

Yeah, good looking cell. Might actually have two circulations there.
