Interesting $5 a gallon could literally be days away here

What is the price point you think we see a stark decrease in demand? Meaning people are actively going out of their way to limit car travel

Someone mentioned this in OT but it’s absolutely right. The price of crude or whatever is for weeks from now, so the fact that prices are soaring immediately is ridiculous. Raising the price on gasoline already produced and in tanks and at gas stations.

I’m not optimistic… it’s gone up like 75 cents in a week lol. Hard to imagine it stopping now

Yes…. $5 a gallon and people will start limiting travel to the bare minimum. Fuel prices are the driver of just about everything, so expect a stark jump in food and other goods as well, as if the last year wasn’t bad enough

Absolutely outrageous… never seen anything like it. Gas can go years without moving 30 cents and it moved that in 24 hours…. It will be $5 a gallon next weekend

Filled up my wife’s car &3.99 yesterday morning… same station is $4.29 right now. Up 30 cents in 24 hours

I’ve read once it hits 4.50 or higher; people will start to alter plans and travel, which would hopefully drive down prices some. Less demand

We have a buried 500 gallon propane tank in the backyard. Only used for heat. We on average use half the tank in a winter season… this year will be a bit more. Hard to complains about heating a 2900 square foot house on a little more than 200 gallons of propane. I always top the tank off in the spring, but I may be rolling the dice this year, and hope prices fall back a little towards the fall. I know if I fill it in the next month I’m going to be lying an arm and a leg

I was looking at doing something along those lines… but when I got the rough quote for what my materials would cost, it was absolutely outrageous. We also kicked around the idea of just fencing in an area and ditching the raised beds all together, but with the water issues in the yard, I’d we flood, it’s game over.

So a few things that I think are going to happen if they aren’t already. There is going to be some serious device tracking, and data logging of employee activities if they are working from home. I’m sure this has started in some places, but it’s definitely going to pick up moving forward. There is also going to be tighter enforcement on paid time off, and when it’s used. You aren’t going to be able to open your computer at 7am and have w tee time at 715. America is really good at sucking anything good out of employment, so I’m sure over time WFH will be made so unpalatable, most people just won’t want to do it. This is one time, I don’t necessarily disagree with the tightening the screws a bit

You’re right about the monitoring tech. That’s already in the works at some places I’m sure. There is a real push now for one of my friends to go back to the office after 2 years working remote. I believe June 1st it’s going to be mandatory to be in office at least 2 days a week.

Work from home is obviously highly inequitable, but that was obvious from the get go. Most low level jobs can’t be done from home, so as usual, the low man is punished. Abuse of work from home is rampant among most I know. My buddies will be out golfing or by the pool during work time. My buddy Eve rigged up some contraption that moves his mouse every 10 mins to make it look like he’s there

Nuclear?

So we are probably pulling back on the raised beds for this season. We need a fence, and I don’t want to half ass it, and the price of lumber is astronomical. We’re hoping to punt this season and hope for more realistic costs next year

The US should go in and take all the good parts of Russia if that’s the case, especially since they are tied up in another conflict at the moment…… (kidding of course).

I mean… is there anything Putin values more than Russia? He has to know if he fires a nuke, Russia is going to be turned into a nuclear parking lot. Would seem kind of short sighted, but he does seem unhinged, so who knows. Dont look at maps that project nuclear target sites in the US; the northeastern US would be porked with a capital P

Bought all of my seeds for my raised bed yesterday… ready to move on.

Fairly large protests considering the consequences for people attending them. Russia feeling the need to shut off information coming from social media. Famous Russians (athletes) pleading for this to stop. Doesn’t seem like an overwhelming vote of confidence to me. Maybe I’m drawing too many conclusions from a small sample size, but to me, doesn’t seem all that popular.

Support currently in Russia for this appears tepid at best. I don’t think he really cares.
