Just got my car inspected. Been going to the same place for years. I stopped using them as a.mechanic a few years ago because he got too expensive but my new mechanic doesn’t do inspections. I was put out with this guy last year because he flunked me for tires. They were “ok” but he flunked me anyway. Joke was on him. I went to my other guy, got the tires and went back.

Anyhoo. I took my Explorer up there this morning because it expired Sunday and I didn’t realize it. So I go to pay and there’s a sign on the door that says wear a mask. I didn’t have one. I walked in to pay and the guys wife is in there running the register. She masked up with an N95. Not 5 minutes before, she’s outside huffing on a Marlboro.
She proceeds to tell me I need a mask. Told her I didn’t have one and I was vaxed. She said she was too but the CDC said we all have to wear one. Told her no, they didn’t. The CDC can’t make law, there is no state or town mandate, and I wasn’t wearing one. She proceeded to argue. I told her I wasn’t interested in arguing and if she wanted me out, please just ring me up.

I walked out and told the owner that she was telling people wrong information. He said it was his business and he could require masks if he wanted. I said true enough and I didnt have to do business with him anymore. I’ll find another inspection station. I don’t need that noise.

    Nice.

You should of went on to tell her smoking causes 500,000 deaths a year in the US.

    Now thats a pandemic.

For some reason RSV is going around.

Probably from peoples immune system not being as sharp as before pandemic. Masks, sanatizer, lockdowns turned the immune systems off a bit.

Here's a covid story.  A friend of mine knows a younger couple with a 5 month old.  Dad got covid and is in the hospital.  The 5 month old also has covid and is in the hospital.

Thats to bad. Does the dad have comorbidities or vaccinated do you know of?

Although terrible that 5 month old went to hospital i cant say its a suprise. A cold/flu can send any child that young to hospital. Their immune systems havent yet developed.

Canned response from the OKW. Go eet a bag of deeks.

    .

    Lmao the okw?

On a serious note, you really believe vaccines are gonna stop it from mutation?

Dont tempt me with the deeks bud cause you probably got all types of vaccines in your azz.

Im sooo encouraged there’s people who are sensible.

Unvaxxed are more likely to have more severe effects if they contract as opposed to vaxxed as well as being more likely to spread new variants thus prolonging the pandemic. Risk reduction based on latest science. I’d rather be booster ready than not if needed.

    .

The vaccinated can still cause a new varient since they infected. Vaccines will never beat the virus. Everyone including yourself will deal with the virus the rest of your life. The sooner you accept it the easier life will become.

Yes. We are cheering on our vaxx choice 100%. We are praying for our Pfizer brothers and sisters though. Unvaccinated not so much

    .

I dont see what the difference is. Vaxx and unvaxx both spread it. Why are we caring so much what other people want to do?

We need to put the vaccinated into camps so you guys don’t spread the virus or fall prey to ADE from a variant. It’s the only way out of this pandemic.

If I start the camp im charging entry fee.

What would that be though? We’ve seen delta go through other countries

That its a virus that mutates indefinitely and will kill more people annually than flu.

And that it will take the world awhile......to come to terms with it.

Absolutely...freedom to be responsible for yourself and do what YOU want to do . No skin off  my back.  That's America.  Just don't force it on me or my girls

I couldnt agree more. Im willing to push back against restrictions. Whatever force is thrown at me this time around, I will throw it back.

Again…I think there’s more that the public isn’t attuned to yet. Fingers crossed, the surge is short lived.

This thread is my only window into COVID, it’s felt done for a long time but not sure what else we’d talk about here without it… the weather? Ha!

In all seriousness though humanity loves drama.  People love drama.  They crave it and are obsessed with it.  Addicted to 24/7 news cycles, always checking news sites, etc. COVID is drama.  I truly believe people on both sides of the debate are just addicted to the drama of it all too.  You can avoid it completely if you want to.

Its true. Plus some people just like to troll and throw weenies around. Kinda weird entertainment for me.

I did what I just said not to do. I looked at the numbers. In almost every state I looked at, the deaths have been pretty much flat for 7-8 weeks. Even in Europe where cases have been up (and starting to drop btw) deaths have been flat with no spikes.

I lol’ed at DC being masked up. They’re 7 day average is 61 positives, with 2 deaths in the last 10 days.

What about those who depend on the covid relief?? They might not get the democratic votes if you dont give them more free money

I’m sure everyone is suddenly getting a “cold” at the end of July right at the same time a virus that is supposedly more infectious than any known to man is raging across the country. Yep, makes sense!

Theres other viruses going around. Im sure the cold virus is more widespread than covid.

Started as a clogged sinus. Then I couldn't pop my ears and had pressure in my head. A lot of post nasal drip and coughing up crap from my head. I'm about 5 days in. Tried to golf yesterday. Zero energy and felt like I had to go home after 9 holes.

No fever, taste food fine, smell fine. No sweating or chills. Nothing other than my head. I think it's a cold

Ya most likely. Flu and covid usually come with fevers.

But who knows maybe you patient zero of the New England varient

I was thinking about getting vaccinated as many times as possible.  At $100 a pop, should be able to pick up some decent fun money.

Ya i wonder what the risks are for that?

We dont even know how the current vaccines will work out 5-10 years from now.

People start developing 3rd arms and stuff.

Has anyone seen any data on outdoor transmission of delta?  Obviously indoors would present the far higher likelihood, but with a more transmissible variant with higher viral loads, common sense would suggest that perhaps it could spread outside more easily than previous versions of covid?

Lollapalooza is going on in Chicago, which always draws big crowds.  My understanding is that they are requiring proof of vaccination or a recent negative test.

Who cares. No one is dying like alpha varient.
