  1. 2009 right? i mean it's all relative at this point.
  2. if it weren't for snakes, spiders, and possums we'd be overrun by all kinds of nasties... i even let house centipedes live... on a warm summer day, along the D&R canal trail, you can find tons of northern water snakes basking, coiled in big piles, or swimming through the canal. i am looking forward to it!
  3. lazy day today Friday was very nice and i made a new friend. iPhone 12 camera--bretty good
  4. February was amazing, the rest of it was fall-lite, but that's OK any season with a 20" blizzard has to be at least an automatic B or greater, right?
  5. i'm seeing a huge squall line for CNJ on June 15th at 4:15 PM
  6. premium spring weekend coming up. totally unimpeded sunshine will help temperatures overperform and declining winds will make it feel warmer besides. i am going to spend the entire time debating politics with strangers on the internet.
  7. this is an interesting insight.
  8. i am not vegan but when i need to entertain them i make a good vegan chili. 2 large spanish onions chopped garlic to taste--i use up to a full bulb 2 red bell peppers 1 orange bell pepper 1 yellow bell pepper 2 poblano peppers 5 jalapeno peppers 1 large can dark red kidney beans 1 large can light red kidney beans 1 can each of navy, pinto, black, small red, cannellini, and roman beans 1 can of sweet corn 3-4 cans whole peeled tomatoes, roughly 105 oz. chili powder 1/3 cup, cayenne powder 2 tbsp, paprika 2 tbsp, cumin 1 tbsp, crushed red pepper 2 tbsp, salt to taste. all seasonings to taste but those are my suggestions. sautee, in olive oil, in order: onions, garlic, peppers. core the bell peppers, personally i leave the poblanos and jalapenos and chop them whole, and throw in the seeds and the pith. the pith is the white flesh inside the pepper holding the seeds and contains the vast amount of the spicy capsaicin. throwing in the pith ensures the weakest member of the dinner party dies, thus making the pack stronger. once everything is sauteed and a bit soft and there's lots of liquid, stir in spices one at a time. then throw in the beans, corn, and then tomatoes w/juice ofc, and bring it back to a simmer for at least a few hours but ideally like 6+. serve on basmati rice and/or with jalapeno cornbread. that one gets rave reviews even amongst meat eaters, with meat, it's award-winning.
  9. ticks: nature's second-worst animal. after watching my boss go through Lyme i became a militant tick-checker. everyone should if you have a chance to be exposed. given the progression of weather around here i assume the tick problem is just going to get more extreme every year.
  10. today, a much-needed soaking rain which will wake up all sorts of noxious weeds and awful biting insects filled with disease. nature is healing.
  11. someone's gotta pick up the torch when all the snow weenies go into hibernation. i'll be live streaming from the roof of my house during every Slight SPC day, looking for tornadoes a la Jeff Pietrowski
  12. i am going to do so much shitposting this summer
  13. i really like this one! and it has a little bit of a "default Windows desktop photo" vibe to it.
  14. is there a place people use to find who is stormchasing something like this?
  15. the ideal summer weather is 3 straight months of constant hail 24 hours a day
  16. i lied and i came back because i have nowhere else to go also i just want to say rclab, you are an incredibly pleasant person.
  17. i'll see you guys next week it looks like nothing exciting is happening for a bit
  18. counterpoint do you really want him to post
  19. i ate half a jar of Costco organic sauerkraut for dinner and two hours later i was farting so aggressively that my cat started hissing and clawing at me this post is half cry for help, half endorsement of sauerkraut. absolutely delicious.
  20. this is one of those statements i don't really have any evidence for but just *feel* is correct
  21. snowpack annihilation in progress. very nice day outside.
  22. i would like the mods to 5-post me. i will take it as a challenge, not a punishment. it will be incumbent on me not to waste posts making dumb jokes or talking about food. i'll have to learn how to read hodographs and soundings and actually do something with my life. right now what i do is, someone posts a sounding with incomprehensible squiggles, and says something dramatic like "this is the most severe TOR signature i've ever seen for Central Jersey," and i lean back from my computer and say "my god" and do this but i actually have no idea what's happening because i can barely read and write english let alone understand meteorology. i'm basically a huge dumbass but i love hanging out with you guys so thanks for not banning me yet. yet
