  1. I have to agree with you about letting the chips fall. Coming from someone who moved from Baltimore to a more climo favored area like Westminster, and lived there for three years, I can honestly say I was never able to enjoy the fruits of my labor. Last winter it benefited me slightly to live there, But it was never anything drastic. There was the storm last year where Westminster got about 7 inches and Thurmont/Carroll Valley got 16 to 18. The cities had 3-4, but it was never the coastal runner that brought 4-6&mix in Baltimore and 12-15 in the NW burbs. Well here I am now living in Carroll Valley as of October, waiting to see if I can maximize another decent climo location.
  2. Yeah usually we just get the opposite of what we need at gametime these past few years.
  3. One would have to think though that this couldn't trend N/W all the way to gametime. Models like HRRR at its latest run have pushed back S/E a bit. What I've been keying on all along for trend watching is the h5 presentation. A lot better than it was, but even on the 6z GFS you could see a little more press & influence from the presence of the N/S. If that area were to separate further and stay flat to the north, this would continue to press and allow negative tilt on our S/S wave.
  4. Weird that the Euro doesn't know anything about this souther trend you're speaking of. We'll have to see if the RGEM or ICON do here shortly.
  5. Yeah that would be terrible to see CAPE. Have we ever had the 18z euro since it’s inception make a big move from the 12z run?
  6. Watching the run come out, I knew when the 24&30 hour frames at h5 showed that continued separation of the N&S streams we were bound for a decent run. That's a much better reason for the trends than just trying to will the low and precip NW.
  7. Yeah not even close to an anything but snow profile there. If you get the good precip, we actually have a pretty good temp setup.
  8. @WinterWxLuvr look at this map. Way more of a textbook look for a snowstorm with that CVA/i81 gettin in on the action. This could take on a 1/30/2010 type of evolution. Can’t hate what the gfs just did and h5 by 24 hrs showed we were gonna like it
  9. Yeah GFS is better again, northern stream ran out faster again this run, h5 orientation was better to gain latitude as well. DC south is crushed
  10. For some reason, that has happened more times than us long time board members care to discuss.
  11. That’s the reason we’ve been this latest trend. Not just a N/w trend in the shield or precip, more so a change in the Synoptics/h5 that’s driving the vort & associated low. Also think that’s why we’ve seen the precip orientations take on a different angle as we’ve discussed.
  12. The NAM hasn't even been in the neighborhood for this storm. The only model that hasn't came NW or even been close.
  13. That would really throw a wrench in things now wouldn't it? The axis is much more SW/SSW to NE versus the more west to east swath's we've seen. Would make sense given some of the better h5 looks on the good runs this past week and with the streams separating a bit giving this room to climb.
  14. Yeah it’s definitely an improvement over the last few runs. H5 is close. I mean i guess it’s not ova right?
  15. I can confirm US 30 in Chambersburg roads are terrible and 81 is not ideal.
  16. Haha thanks for the warm welcome, it’s a great area for sure. Do you mean over by the dollar general? I agree, shouldn’t have to go to Blue Ridge Summit or Emmitsburg for gas (and always going to Emmitsburg with those PA gas prices)
  17. I will still post probably in our regular thread in the mid Atlantic, but now I’m actually a part of this geography. Just moved to Carroll Valley mid October after three years in Westminster!
  18. Decided to take the kids down to my parents in Dundalk today...top 5 storm arguably. Trees and power lines down everywhere, roads closed with lines down. Large trees fully uprooted in spots and roof toppings off some apartments. This area up through Essex and Parkville really took it on the chin. Hail was persistent on an off for the better part of an hour, and I’d estimate in the “microburst” period, we gusted 65-70 to cause that damage. To top it off, the rain and flooding is extensive. Water several feet deep in places after ~4.75” in about 2.5 hours. Power out still since 4PM. Now to watch to the west
  19. Jeb, we don't want you to pick BOTH. 11-12 stunk for us
  20. Hi Map, sorry been out of pocket from a few days of work being busy. Here are my coordinates! 39.5822, -77.0218
  21. I might have missed a storm, I was in Florida for quite a while and think I am closer to 40” after tallying. I actually have more elevation than you at 770 feet or so. Westminster is at a higher elevation than UB for the most part. You start to get towards the valley as you go west on Uniontown/Middleburg Rd.
  22. Where are you for the year? I'm right around 35" on the west side of town in Westminster. I suspect you're mid to upper 40's?
  23. I wouldn’t mind you moving into the CPA forum after reading some of your posts this past week
  24. Well some places from Winchester to Westminster might have 6-8” by 8/9am. 1.25” here since 4am, 24 degrees.
  25. Why did anyone’s eyes jump? Y’all thought for a sec PSU would call this? I’m dead.
