  1. Those are some pretty significant differences. On the talk of Oswego's amounts for the year, perhaps it's location-dependent? Snowfall seems to be very different there from one side to the other side of the city with events. Some parts of the city had a couple nice teakettle or low-wind events in February, so I wouldn't be surprised with the "higher" numbers. At the same time, this winter sucked...so I wouldn't be surprised with the lower amounts. I think that area had a worse synoptic year than even here.
  2. Yes, politically-speaking, environmental issues are an area where I trend towards the liberal side. I believe in being a steward of creation and the earth...and our lack of doing so as a world for instead profit and power gain...is leading to some negative results and consequences. I mean, when you destroy the world's biomes at the rate we are, what do we expect?
  3. And....I have not heard ANYBODY in my area of Central New York calling this the "China virus" or any such thing. Not saying it doesn't happen..maybe out there in the Midwest area..... This whole blowing everything out of proportion in this nation is an epidemic in itself.
  4. Yeah, I have seen the posts from Phineas and the Maine folks on that.
  5. Boo! How rare is that for Buffalo? I am thinking winters like last winter are going to become the norm. A few snow events with cutters that wash all the snow away. Up...down...up...down. Gone are the days of consistent snow cover. If we hadn't had the little SSW event to change things a "little" for this February, this very well would have been the least snowy winter here.
  6. That 15 inch difference is actually very minor. It's not abnormal to see a seasonal difference of feet between locations around here...some of it depends on the wind setup. However, "usually" even with those differences, many locations will be in unison with having a good winter. This is, unless, it's a winter with a consistent wind coming from the SAME direction. For example, Watertown has done pretty good the past couple winters because of a never-ending SW wind off Lake Ontario. This winter, it was this strange consistent NW trajectory that continuously put the LES...what little came...over the Finger Lakes. This is why Auburn did better compared to many in CNY. The winds haven't been as variable the past couple winters to let everybody cash in. Plus, cold air, like you said....has been in short supply.
  7. Definitely top 10 least snow winters....maybe the 5th least snowy winter? Unfortunately, several of the least snowy have been in this century. Our four least snowy Winters: 2001-’02 (59.4”), 2011-’12 (50.6”) 1982-’83 (66.0”), and 1994-’95 (66.9”)
  8. The stats here demonstrate how mild of a snow season it has been...especially for those north of the Thruway. The Oswego to Fulton to Syracuse strip.....BAD.
  9. Ha! He sure brought the alliterations to the world of weather!
  10. Back to Weather World...I LOVED that show! Paul and Fred surely influenced my weather passion. I remember thinking Elliot Abrams was one of the strangest people I ever watched on tv.... LOL
  11. Yes! That part is nice. We actually still had a FEW....very few....patches of snow left in some wooded, north-side hills this morning....but the ground for the most part is dry other than areas near the big snow piles. I noticed that the ground was still pretty frozen the other morning. Might have just been because it was like 7 that particular morning.
  12. Meh. Not for me! Lancaster definitely has the perfect climate for you then. The weeks and weeks of sunshine and 40s during the winter there was "meh" for me. The winter of 93-94 was by far my favorite season there.
  13. Such a stupid snow season it's been. Good riddance!
  14. Not sure why...but I am thinking this year will be different. Might be a more traditional Spring...we seem to be doing the gradual transition to Spring now. I am thinking it will either be a big ridge or a big trough....thinking there's better odds for the big ridge this time over the trough. I actually hope so....can't bear watching another track of suppressed lows hitting Pennsylvania with snow in late April. lol
  15. Ha! Well there's not really many of us left. It's REALLY died down over the past week and a half on here. I, of course, will be looking for any shot of snow. But this winter keeps on trolling.....
  16. So, if it gets far enough north, it's rain here. Then when the cold enough air arrives, it gets squashed to our south. lol One. maddening. season. this. has. been. from Rochester to Syracuse.
  17. Looking at pretty much all the 12Z runs, they show the SAME thing of the SAME thing that's been happening all winter. Please just let this season end. No more "chances" that continue to screw us. Hopefully next winter doesn't make for a trio of CRAP winter seasons.
  18. That sounds pretty much exactly like mine as well. Things have been doing really well! Plus, the flu has been absent with all these precautions. Not sure I want to continue wearing masks forever though to avoid it.
  19. 12Z runs still have the snow possibilities missing us to the south along the NY/PA Border. This "snow season" has been never-ending torture. Lol
  20. There was meaningful snow here this winter? I must have missed that.
  21. The strong winds this winter have destroyed many lake effect snow chances up here. Everything has been sheared or it's blown waaaay over the normal snow belts to the Adirondacks. Catskills, and....Binghamton.
