  1. Not my sub but I lurk on this and the sne site a lot. Both are great although my sub (Philly) has fewer wienie posts and is very civilized.  That being said, all the discussion on analogue winters and the hope for snowy winters doesn't  take into account that one huge snowstorm covering the whole eastern seaboard, no matter how much it goes against previous winter outlooks, will make that winter memorable.  I am always hoping for that storm every winter.

  2. I was serious when I said your subforum was probably, for me,  the best on this weather board. There is no better place for me to go during the winter months.  But there is a place for off-topic posts.  I hope there are no hard feelings.

At least he has Three Bridges nearby to end it?

I have been following your subforum since it was was eastern weather and I considered it one of the best.  This response from CoastalWx makes me rethink.  What the F... happened?

You've been preaching the official stratus cocorahs one for how many posts now and now you're including all 4" gauges?

I have never heard of or preached Stratus.  What is the difference between Stratus or other brands?  I don't have a Stratus.  My gauge looks like the one you just posted.  For sure it wasn't Stratus, whatever that company is.

You're right. Just put me on mute because I don't have a stratus. If you don't have a stratus range gauge, you can't have a good meteorological discussion. Just hate to see it.

What is a Stratus rain gauge? There are a number of sites that sell a 4" rain gauge.

It's true, I use my best judgement. The one I have breaks it down by 1/8" So a little more detail.  Life gets busy, so I don't necessarily care too much if a whiff by a few hundredths when reporting. LOL.

And I thought the New England forum was the place to go for serious weather discussion.  What is the big deal about buying a 4" rain gauge that can be used in all seasons?  My Davis Pro is super in all but the winter season.  The rain gauge is a cheap backup.

No, entirely sarcastic. Believe it or not, I'm more resilient than my lawn and will perservere.

I depend on well water, and I definitely care about drought conditions.  You seem to make a joke about this whole thing.. I actually hope we go through an extended period of average precipitation in the U.S.

Easy if rain isn't your thing...took me until this year.

They are also good in the winter for snow, sleet, rain  to get total precip.  Remove the funnel and inner tube. The tipping bucket gauge on my davis pro sucked in the winter.

Very sad as our beloved doggie had to be put down yesterday evening.   14 happy years with so many snow memories. RIP Honey.

Thanks for sharing.  So sad.  I have a lab that's reaching the end.

  11. Tip,    I understand that you are probably a very well schooled meteorologists and have a lot to offer this weather board.  But why do you feel it necessary to offer your thoughts in a manner which is incomprehensible to most weather enthusiasts like me?  Absolutely no offense intended.
