    Just gotta get these temps a couple degrees colder than forecasted at the surface. GFS looked colder to me at 18z vs 12z. You see that @RIC Airport?

    Yes, I think over the years with this hobby, I have learned that just looking at the forecasted snow maps from the weather models and even the most conservative accumulation maps can bite you because temperatures mean so much. We have all seen really good chances of storms end up being “white rain” and even though it snows for a long duration, nothing really amounts from it.

    I was thinking this but look at temps. It looks like surface temps don’t even get below 33-34 even Monday night into Tuesday morning. Meaning it may be difficult for snow to accumulate anywhere but the coldest surfaces Monday into Tuesday. It’s later Tuesday into Wed that the cold air really comes in after things dry out for the most part. @RIC Airport do you think this is how it plays out?

    That GFS run was like a football team down 23-10 in the 4th qtr (hour 114), but then got its act together to pull out a 24-23 win! Let’s go!

    I think it’s the opposite. Dejected thinking it was totally OTS, but then psyched about actual ( and maybe plowable) snow.

    I remember this well. Car battery died overnight into 12/24 and car was just a few months old.

    It’s kind of a funny thing I made up a few years ago. Since Va fought with the south in the civil warm I consider it the south. So since we’re the central part of the state and the northern part of the state really is the southern part of the north, I’ve dubbed us Green Bay of the south. Okay moving on haha.

    I call Glen Allen the “Green Bay” of the south! Lol-relatively speaking, of course think about it. If you consider the south, at least on the East Coast from southern Florida all the way up through Virginia, we are indeed the Green Bay of the south.

    GFS now showing a lack of cold air now for that system. Do you think we still have a chance to get the needed cold air? What has to happen? Or maybe the better question is what should I be looking for? @RIC Airport

    Haha sorry-when you mentioned it staying south I was thinking of the 18z run. I think we’re gonna hit on one of these.
