It’s been cloudy for 2 weeks…with a few minutes of sun here and there. Losing it.
...never lose it over the weather...

stupid east wind
I don't think anyone is all that excited to see a few flakes in the sky.
We should either get 6"+ inches of snow or sunny dry weather.
Where I live I see flakes every day, just not the kind that fall from the sky

This is what I mean…some of the stuff is laughable. That was my point. Sure feathers are gonna melt or sublimate. But as you said a girth pack ain’t melting much at all on Feb 15th as was said..and they even went so far as to say NNE too.
The snow/sleet on Sunday wasn't "feathers" and yesterday in the front yard it was melting...

I had snow and sleet stick Sunday morning.
..not here...had a spotty coating on the grass but most of that melted.....no real accumulation till around 7 PM
Edit: had a total of 1.9 inches....certainly lost 1-2 inches of potential accumulation

Tthe sun angle in mid-late Feb (next shot at any decent snows) does nothing to snow pack. Lol deluded irony
..drive up from billerica and I will disprove your theory lol

Ground is sufficiently cold. My street had no problem with snow sticking even being above freezing for days.
..not here....on sunday the snow did not begin to accumulate until around 7 PM

But yeah overall a girthy pack will not melt really on 2-15. Maybe 2” of feathers have a tough time on south facing areas.
The ground is so warm for this time of year that the snow melts from below and above..

Right, that's why all the snow pics I share are of my backyard . My front yard is terrible with snow retention
the shady part of my backyard retains snow far longer than the front yard or the sunny part of the backyard...especially when there isn't any frost in the ground.

Yes…but that’s not a problem for winter activities, and it doesn’t mean we don’t have good snow cover in February in good/seasonable patterns.
but you said it doesn't happen..

Some of These people are just completely out of their gord. Now we have people saying snow melts as quickly as it stops in mid February…WTF? Who the heck are these dummies? And they have the nerve to say it happens in NNE too. This place is a complete f’n dumpster fire. Lots of utter worthless and untrue BS.
My front yard faces south and that is what happens unless it is very cold....meaning the snow begins to melt the next day after a snowstorm if it is sunny with normal temp..

The pattern this winter is an extreme one. I know there is a lot of talk about how the pattern has changed, but if you take a more broad view of the temp and precip profiles, it’s been pretty consistent. It has been very warm and extremely wet in New England. This winter so far has been one of the highest QPF winters on record, the issue is most of that QPF has been rain. The sample size is way too small to make conclusions, but 3/5 of the wettest Dec-Jans on record for Worcester were El Niños, and 2 of them were borderline super events (57-58 and this year). I know meaningful statistical analysis on a sample size of 5 isn’t something you can do, but I just found it kind of interesting.
exactly!!.....people "bet" against El Nino...

It’s just incredible to me that the eastern US had this level of sustained cold. The west must’ve been an absolute blowtorch.
“Every saltwater inlet from North Carolina to Canada froze over completely. In fact, New York Harbor froze over with ice so thick that British soldiers were able to march from Manhattan to Staten Island.”
Have you ever read the books Early American Winters Vol 1 & 2?

This sucks. We may as well bring on the cloudy, 40’s and drizzle spring weather. At least that’s always consistent.
You must have missed last week...

Yup. Until we see sustained changes in the pac we will continue with these lean winters. One or two weeks with a okay pacific isn’t enough time to capitalize,

The banding was good enough for 6" to the sea coast NH down to- Newburyport MA/Lawrence. But temps a huge limiting factor throughout. Pretty cool driving from Dover to DAW and seeing snow amounts triple in ~8 miles.
Reminded me of a mid march -late march snowstorm. It didn't begin to accumulate in Methuen till around 7 PM.

Same as the Ravens lol, can you imagine fumbling the ball on the 1 yard line in the 4th quarter? If that doesn't happen they win.
