  1. Early evening afterglow, brightened up with the fresh blanket. Looking good out there. 5ish on the ground.
  2. Great to see the upgrade out west. Edit: And now through our own neck of the woods.
  3. 4-8 in the point. Oustanding day for tourney and get out for some play later on.
  4. SoWis tornado warning - radar indicated rotation.
  5. Looking NNW toward the Wisconsin action. Temp went up a degree or two here. A burst of rain drops with the slightest bit of ice chased me inside.
  6. Tomorrow morning marks a full week of trails open in McHenry County. Groomers out. It's been an absolute top shelf, paradise treat.
  7. Snow continues at home. Power out for last thirty minutes.
  8. 6" in town. Heavy, full flakeage again.
  9. Measured about 5" at 8 a.m. Sleet in the lull and now flakes mixing back.
  10. 2" hour rates in Woodstock. Just driveway measured 1.5" at 5:44 and then 2" at 5:57.
  11. Aiming to get into Elmhurst before those returns running up I-80 around Joliet make it up. Let's shed some daylight on that.
  12. Izzi/Castro AFD is a treat. Describing among other things the "double barrel" low pressure early this morning, with the southern Missouri LP and its likely devolution "later today into more of an inverted trough" amid the overall deepening cyclone.
  13. Had high hopes with the "fast start" overnight but after all was settled I arrived to 3.5" at home. My tire tracks in the 2" this morning were still evident. Measured 4" closer to Woodstock. Certainly not our first Winter Storm Warning to miss the cut. Rippage by O'Hare this afternoon was great.
  14. About 2" Schools closed (for expected conditions later on).
  15. I remember it and it was the best. Let's send him off with an all-timer.
  16. Same with the 7-15 P&C. Came together nicely since this morning. More snow from this past weekend on the ground in west burbs than back home (little to none here). Probably won't make a huge difference in the accumulations but would be nice to have that starter layer in place to maximize the early potential with temperatures a few degrees above freezing yet.
  17. Rip First winter in the new neighborhood a few miles north of town. Old farm field. Up on a hill. Should be a blast regardless but what a ceiling.
  18. Super bummed. Trying to think back to when I connected with John's site - probably around 2000 - was such a window to the UP, meteorology, snowmobiling and then, as he was the snow man, it was magic. We enjoyed one of his snowmobile Ride In Make-a-Wish fundraising events probably 17ish years ago. That weekend in Houghton and on the Keweenaw, we met people from all over and local business owners out at their places on the trails in such a unique way. I know those events were a team effort with friends of John and the site but it would have never happened without him. What an ambassador he was.
  19. Solid rates under the band. Roads are that slush/snow cover in-between.
