  1. Currently 25/24 here with a HEAVY frost on all objects and freezing fog, under 0.2 visibility. All elevated objects slicker than, well, you know. Skies stayed cloudy all day yesterday with a light NE to E wind, only topped out at 39.7 degrees. Forecast was MILES off, had sunny skies and mid to upper 40's for highs, they kept lowering highs and increasing cloud cover thru day with each update lol.

Happy Thanksgiving friends! Spending ours at home with just us three, not hosting, didn’t have to clean, will make a small feast, in my pjs, drinking all day with no stress whatsoever. Fantastic

Well, we'll end up with 14 or 15 here, so some clean up and preparing going on here, but it has now become tradition for family to come here in last three years. I don't mind, super nice to see all the family. Wishing all a super and safe Thanksgiving out there in forumland!!

Yes. Last night was a step in the right direction. Let's see if this holds. I would rather have a bunch of small to medium size events than one big event. I want to be home with my wife and enjoy snow, not locked in a windowless operations center for days on end.

I want a lot of events as well, but this is a sacrifice I’m willing for you to make.

He must never leave the operations center.

Yep. Step up and take one (or a bunch) for the team!!

  4. Down to 39.4 here, we'll see if this comes to fruition in the morning, especially up high. Had a couple rounds of drizzle and sprinkles in last two hours.

    ...LIGHT WINTRY MIX POSSIBLE TONIGHT...

A wintry mix of rain, snow, and freezing drizzle is expected to
occur along the higher ridges tonight. The patches of freezing
drizzle or snow will most likely be confined to the highest
    elevation, west facing ridges.

Slow down and use caution while traveling as slick spots could
    form on roadways.
  5. Between the 7 am ob (0.06) and what I can eyeball in the gauge now from the back window, about 0.40 has fallen so far here. :) 37.3/36.5 currently. Another 5 degrees this would have been interesting, at least the front end.

You need a Cyclone Rake!  Mine makes short work of leaves and holds 44 bushels before you have to dump. Price is reasonable for the work they do.  Several sizes ranging from $1500 - $2000.

LOL, I can barely use the rider on 75% of the yard, I'd likely flip one of those. Don't think I haven't thought about trying one though :)

I'm going to hold off on raking my leaves. I'll just wait for my brush fire to sweep through.

In all seriousness I have spent last two days trying to rake and haul off as much of them as I can!

    Super cheap then.

Average residential main supply isn't adequate for snowmaking.  A pond and good centrifugal pump or irrigation system can fix that.  A Hale fire pump can work in a pinch as long as the head isn't too high.

Disagree 100%. I know, we did it.

I am going to sound like a serious Debbie and I apologize to everyone.

But the last few years have jaded me so much wrt models and snow. Yeah yeah, I live in a snow hole. MBY sucks for snow. Micro climate they rivals DCA for pathetic snows and marginal events.

That said, the amount of hopium already in the LR with it being only Nov just makes me sigh. I just can’t buy in anymore to 180+ hour maps. It literally has to be inside 5 days now to get hype. I wish I wasn’t so jaded. I got a 4x4 in 2021 and I’ve had ONE, one snow event worth using 4 wheel drive.

Until I see radar lit, temps under 32 up the column, WSWs hoisted I can’t buy into the drooling that gets most fired up.

I still appreciate all the thoughts and knowledge our Mets and veteran posters give us. I learn a ton from y’all. But man, it’s hard to see what the models spit out at times and not say “ain’t falling for this shit again”

Definitely understand, MAYBE this year will break your way :)

We could solve this problem right now... I've always wanted a snowmaking machine...  someone wants to donate...I could have a few inches on my lawn the next below freezing night!

    *Raises hand*

Umm, I'm pretty far away, but I still have all my son's snowmaking stuff in the shed...
