  1. lots of panicking here right now. take a deep breath everyone. Still a warning criteria snow for W of I39 and the lakeshore counties.
  2. The v16 GFS (para) is performing much better overall than the current operational GFS so far this winter
  3. Snow started around 9 here. A dusting on the ground already
  4. GFS continues to show a minor hit for the southern half of Indiana and Ohio
  5. Could see us flirting with 6” here(2” from tonight’s wave and 4” from the main low) if the N drift continues
  6. Got down to 0 here. Just like last year, waiting a long time to get that first below zero temp
  7. 24 hour storm total on NAM ending Tuesday morning at 6. Snow still going from about Chicago eastward
  8. heads up that about 2" of that on the NAM from Dekalb to the west and north is from the wave overnight
  9. Right on the heels of the early week system another shortwave looks to eject from the SW. There are some hints this could be a notable storm as well, especially in the southern areas of the sub
  10. lead wave looks to drop a solid 3" or 4" here. trending towards a narrow miss south with the main system.

  15. wind is blowing the snow from yesterday around very efficiently. even a couple snownados out my window
  16. MKX issued Winter Storm Watches and within 6 hours the models had half of the area getting no snow at all. The NAM went from about 13" to 2" in 2 model runs. Fun times

  18. Thought I could contribute some AFDs to reminisce upon. The first one is a heavy hitter, MKX was on the hype train for GHD1 early on. Also a fun fact, the day before GHD1 we got 4.4 inches from a mid level wave that moved through. So the 3 day total ended up being 18.7 here.
  19. flurries starting here. Should be a nice 1" or so with some brief heavier rates
  20. still waiting on our first one here as well. Only had 3 total last winter and the first didn't occur until February 13.

  22. Honestly you just need to move up to Madison, we've had snow cover since December 12, average 51" of snow per year. Just enough torches to keep things interesting.
