  1. I don't know why each year I'm still amazed at the amount of people living model to model run tracking storms that are always 200 or more hours away.

I know. I guess it is an easy trap to fall into especially when the weather is benign. The way I see it, is all you can really do is look at the pattern at 500mb to see how things might potentially line up. Any analysis at the surface beyond 96 hours starts to get pointless.

  2. Its a ways off still but from what I'm reading in in the other threads about the 12Z Euro sounds like we could be sitting in the same spot that we were last year with the exception of the last week of Feb :arrowhead:

Yes, that is exactly where we are sitting, trend north required! arrowheadsmiley.png Very odd Miller B track though.. I suspect it will change (stating the obvious here, I know)

Honestly, if we start seeing suppression and confluence become a major issue again this year, due to a -NAO on steroids, I am going to lose the plot.

  3. I got down to 21 last night, coldest night of the season so far. I am guessing we are a shade warmer tonight, and then onto some milder weather for the next few days.. I hope we get some backend snow as the front passes through late wednesday night, but timing will need to be perfect, and we don't normally get the timing right, especially this early in the season.

  4. The line hit here at 4:45. Had heavy rain along with strong winds around 40mph. The winds lasted about 2 minn. Only a few bolts and rumbles of thunder.

Yes, this woke me up... Quite a prolonged set of high winds... I was wondering what was going on because there wasn't any thunder/lightning until the winds subsided. Quite impressive winds though.

  5. Well I'm screwed at work unless the phishing issue gets resolved :axe:

That sucks.. I appear to be able to get through via my work computer. Not that it matters too much as i typically work from home and have my personal computer up and running in the study.

12Z Euro looks very interesting if you extrapolate beyond 240 hours... I like the look of the pattern - Ridging in the west developing, very low heights dropping into the upper midwest, NAO becoming west based...

  6. I topped out @ 58F and a low of 27F this morning. I cut the grass with my lawn tractor and mulched the lawns on the lawn. I have one tree with about 30% left on the tree and another big sucker with ALL still up on the tree. They're both flowering trees and hold their leaves until the bitter end every year so I still have a few more weeks of mulching left. I hope they both drop by Thanksgiving or else its going to get messy with wires on the ground for xmas lights.

Glad to the most of the crew has made it, I think we've missing NYWEATHERMOM ?

Yes, haven't seen her on here yet... hopefully she figures out our new home.

I have almost all the trees drop their leaves now, so I am going to get out there tomorrow and rake up the remaining leaves and clean things up.

  7. Glad to see all you HV guys found this new locale also. I think most people will find their way here because most of us use other social networking things like Facebook, etc. I found out on FB from a few guys. Dropping like a rock here after a day in the high 50s.... ...down to 34.

Good to see you made it here Rick! 40 down here now in the valley.. Radiating well here.

  8. Its too bad the board had to end like that cause unfortunately we probably did lose a few people for good.. Its sounds like alot of drama was going on behind the scenes for quite a while.

Hopefully stuff like Yahoo Answers will help (that's how I found this board). It is a shame that Marcus can't just simply put a link to this board on the EasternUSWX board message, so anybody wondering what the heck is going on, can simply just follow a link to here. I am sure once things calm down, he probably will.
