So yesterday, traveled down to Asheville with a buddy to see a show. On the way down we were talking about the weather (he is a weather nerd as well), and I was saying how All I had to do was keep my phone data turned on when we were there and we wouldn't even have to look at the weather since Ward would of course go live on FB. About an hour later got the notification that he was live talking about the storm moving in, and that was the only reason we were able to get inside before it hit, thanks Ward for what you do! also, i'm sick of all the clouds, I've lost my entire tan from vacation already.

Just got back from Bonnaroo a bit ago, wow what an amazing trip, with a little hot but beautiful weather outside of storms yesterday morning and early afternoon, good to see that we've dried out a bit over here.

I’m so ready for this rain to stop
Still waiting...

Until last night it hasn't been too bad up my way. Maybe an inch and a half all week. Almost tripled that since last night. Sitting around 4 inches total.

Summer has arrived early this year, so let's get the thread going.

so this is 5 days away...

Managed to go through JB's little climate change tirade on twitter. Interesting read, until he says we may be going back to the 50's and 60's...

Here's my turn to vent. If I go to Florida on March 3rd and have to live in 40's and 50's on my spring break I'm never rooting for winter again. Ever.

So if it turns cold and snowy in March they won’t open back up? Just asking.
It's gonna take a perfect pattern for them to reopen after they close. the time and effort for them to get slopes ready is gonna need more than a 2 week window.

March 3rd starts my spring break trip in Florida...and of course the weather looks chilly starting then.

I'm so glad wcnc has the Chevy storm tracker out and about to report on the drizzle in Gastonia.
-
Assuming I get the days off of work, I will be heading to Miami for Spring Break (4th-9th of March) so if you want snow, that's when it'll come.
-
Sudden Stratwarm means wild ride into March , Winter has a long way to go Analog packages from FALL still looking pretty good SOI crash starting now ( BTW likely the first hit to the body of the NINA, modoki nino should develop fall/winter) - JB's twitter.

I mean. All the talk has been for the past week that the pattern isn't going to get good for everyone outside of the mountains til mid month anyway. And it still looks like that will be the case based on LR modeling.
-
Interesting observation based on the 0z runs from the ICON and GFS for the Sunday/Monday storm. The GFS is amping up a lot quicker than the ICON, which is normally an amp happy model. (just based on this winter)

Anxiously awaiting Brad Panoviches thoughts !?
All I know is he's all in about the mtns cashing in next couple of weeks. but he won't call snow for down there til it's falling so you got a bit of waiting to do.

Did the 18z lose the Feb 6 storm??

I know it's the end of the run, but the amount of potential this could have..... i don't want to post all the frames and create that way too long post, but another low follows this one. Interesting 5 days setup in that time frame.

So close...

This...this could work. Midday runs are good for about half of North Carolina.

GFS and now CMC very close to a big storm for the mountains next weekend.

The forum is kinda dead this time of year so sorry for the late response. Can't really reccomend any hiking areas, but my personal al preference for beer is Wicked Weed Brewery. Been there MANY times and it's always a good place to go to. There's also an Irish pub that I'm gonna look up now to check the name of that I really like. Welcome to the area!
Edit* irish pub is named Jack of the Wood
