Will Idalia actually affect us next week
-
No 90 degree days here, also.
-
64 degrees this morning with lower humidity, feels great.

Even have the outermost clouds up here on Long Island.
-
Ended up with .30 inch of rain here. Now sunny and muggy temperature 80 degrees.
-
Quick .26 here, temperature down to 69 degrees.
-
6.9 record surge in Cedar Key but far below the prediction of 9-12 ft.

Good thing Idalia is hitting a low population area.

After a mild day today looks like pleasantly cool weather for 3 or 4 days. Then back to summer. August at Central Park should end up about an even 75 degrees.

Starting Thursday---no clouds---no rain---and ever-increasing T's into at least the 7th---says the GFS. No rain for 15 days?
Where and when will it end?
Thursday and Friday look real nice with highs in the mid 70s and lows around 60 in the city and 40s and 50s in the burbs.

The last 3 days of August are averaging 76degs.(69/83) or +2.
Month to date is 75.2[-1.1]. August should end at 75.2[-0.9]
HW Alert????? Sept. 03-10. Avg.> 85(76/95) +13!
Reached 81 here at 2pm.
Today: 75-79, wind e., m. cloudy, some Rain late, 73 tomorrow AM.
69*(89%RH) here at 7am. 72* at 9am.
I think the last 3 days will average about normal and the month about an even 75 or -1.3 at Central Park.
-
The average for the contiguous U.S. for 1981-2010 is 52.8 and 1991-2020 is 53.3. So if we are a 1/2 degree below normal this season it would probably be about average for the 1981-2010 period.

You mean decades ago right? Satellite era since the 1970s has made it incredibly easy to catch storms that otherwise would have been missed. That's why I'm very curious what the 1933 record season would have been with satellites.
I think even with the satellite era we have become a lot quicker at naming storms that may not have been named in the past. Now even subtropical are named. Before the satellite era, who knows how many were missed.
-
Years ago this would have been a very quiet season and way lower in the alphabet with named storms. Now with better technology and naming subtropical storms, we go thru the alphabet a lot faster.

Newark will hit 90.

3-0-0. There has not been a hurricane yet. Franklin may try
Franklin is the only one that looks worthy enough to have a name.
