the last time we collectively melted down it led to a disappearing Pope and snow on snow in a lot of New England.  What will the next 2 weeks bring?

A GOA low and Baringer running in to punt Feb?!

  2. Looks like we took a step back overnight. And man, the end of the 6z GFS looks like a springtime map. CONUS on fire with New England the only cold (and dry) spot.

Perhaps a sneaky DD or two next week while we straddle the boundary with temps shooting into the 50s for those potential DD days. That’s about as much as we can hope for at this point.

Fire up the February 2024 thread!  We’re done here.

12”+ from Central  Connecticut to Central Maine with lollis to 20”

And no coastal taint. I don’t think I’ve had an all snow event of 4+ in at least a few years.

Ops will op. The key will be to keep this look and not see a trend north. Ensembles are all over

Agree. I’d feel better from Dendrite land on north.  We will see how this shakes out. Eventually things will need to break in our favor to balance out.

  5. I know we’re all jaded, but that 18z GFS run was pure winter for SNE north. Snowy overrunning system Wed. More snow Friday. Another pulse late weekend/Mon. Then the Arctic hounds are unleashed. I don’t know how the GEFS look…but that was a nice OP run.

    Why can't folks see this?

They’re the same folks that reply all to yell at the people who previously replied all. Despicable if you ask me.

Everyone complaining about below average snowfall would not last one winter in the south...

I have been here 3 weeks and feel spoiled from the 13" of snow I have gotten so far considering I could potentially total out by the end of January with more snow than I have seen in my ENTIRE 29 YEARS OF EXISTENCE (18.5") if the 24th is a thumper, just my perspective

I spent 2016-2017 in NOVA. We had 1” of SLEET in mid March that winter. That’s it. That was the winter.  After that, I moved to the Mid Atlantic of Massachusetts. Cape Ann. 2014-2015 was my last good winter. It’s been a decade of regression for me.

The 12z GFS man HP would save next week. Either get us on the cold side or blast through with the warmth. No straddling the line with 38F rain/drizzle.

Yea, well...I average over 60" and haven't sniffed that since 2017-2018.

I average about 50” here. A little over a quarter of that last winter. Same so far this winter. But hey, at least Saturday’s high tide destroyed a 100 year old sea wall in town, flooding a neighborhood.

I had 40.5" last season and 24" so far, this year. I should beat it, too.

Over 40” last year. Wow!  I knew the coast has endured a local minima, but dang, we’ve really been hosed.

Speaking of wins, after my 1.5" today, I have surpassed last winter!

Congrats!  A few more inches needed for me to pass last season’s 12.5”. What a shameful stretch we’ve been in.

No. It’s done. Maybe a very light event.

    Friday is toast.

Onto the next period. Plus we’ll enjoy the snow today and few days of winter that follow.

If people want to act like children and complain about every threat, they can do it elsewhere. There are still people who log on here to read about the meteorology and actual model discussion of a threat.

Agree. Not condoning it. I pull myself back from the edge oftentimes so I don’t taint a thread. And for once, taint is not a worry for the next two threats.

It’s actually trended better since 00z but this forum has become an unreadable dumpster fire.

It’s understandable though. Just endured two massive cutters. It was just 60 and sunny this afternoon. Perhaps a snow squall or two tomorrow afternoon will get people back into the spirit.

Light event still very much on the table for 1/16.

  14. My cousin is getting married at 4 tomorrow. Instead of throwing rice at the bride and groom, Mother Nature will pelt them in the face with graupel and ice rimed flakes leaving the church?
