Lol "masks are for theater after you've been vaccinated or had the virus."
Get him senator Paul!
Took a 5 mile hike on the outskirts of Ann Arbor (heavily liberal) and people hiking in the middle of the woods were wearing masks. Leaving metro Detroit you hardly see anyone wearing them outside of large chain stores and certainly not outside.
No lives were saved, it's just theater. He's right.

I call it Taco Hell. Haven't had it in a long time but another thing is that the food always seemed to be cold. I'm not talking about going to the drive through and it getting cold by the time you get home. It was cold pretty much right away.
That's anything with sour cream... I know what you're talking about.

So all the whining about masks and shutdowns...and you use your freedom to eat processed dog turds at Taco Smell. Bwahahaha!
I have been dining in sitdown restaurants since it became possible, it's just nice to grab a bite to eat without a 30+ minute commitment and not dropping $30+ doing it.
And people who complain about Taco Bell are full of crap.

Feels good sitting inside a Taco Bell eating like normal.

Was talking to a few of my snowmobile buddies about this. Thinking 10 feet in spots could be on the table.
Next winter I'm going to start mountain riding. Getting tired of the hit or miss winters out this way.

Idk but the weekly excess deaths per the cdc are still in epidemic territory (I think its at least several percent above baseline?) I'm hoping that by early to mid summer it falls below that threshold.
I'd be curious to see if we experience a net drop in deaths overall as seniors and others in weaker health are absent from the population going forward. Eventually things will settle back to where they were, but we could see a temporary drop below normal levels.

As an NWS employee, I haven't come across many colleagues who are in favor of this change. Also, like with the radar page, it's unfortunate that we all give feedback on this stuff and they move forward with the changes anyway. Why pay lip service to getting feedback if the outcome is predetermined? Maybe our negativity is misplaced on it, we'll see.
The change I think l dislike the most is changing Small Craft Advisories into Small Craft Warnings. We already have Gale Warnings for more impactful conditions. Also, are they expecting us to issue Small Craft Watches? Confident in saying that we'll be raising our criteria for Small Craft issuances and probably mostly designating them for hazardous waves. The service change announcement says that they need to be called warnings because they're life threatening situations. Funny thing is, I'm not aware of conditions hazardous to small craft causing any fatalities in my time here. If we're going down this route, we need to issue Beach Hazards/Rip Current Warnings, because we know dangerous swimming conditions cause a bunch of drownings each year.
The new NWS radar output is horrible. I never use it for that simple reason.

Texas is lifting all mask mandates and fully reopening on March 10th. North Dakota, Montana and Iowa have also lifted mask orders in recent weeks.

I have held off booking my flight for the end of March due to not being completely sure who will have the mandate or not. I might opt for Texas in this case.

Depends on which day he went up.... I was in St. Ignace 5 days ago and there was less snow than Howell.

I saw a line from Fauci about mask wearing possibly until 2022. Couldn't believe it. Maybe he's being overly cautious or something.
With the reports of the flu being non-existent this year, I wouldn't be shocked to see certain pols calling for mandatory mask usage during certain months even after COVID fades into history.
I'll be voting against those pols at every chance.

I'm waiting to see people clamoring for lockdowns to protect the population against the new variants that the vaccine doesn't protect against.

Absolutely agree, the roll out in general has been absolutely terrible due to the negligence of the last administration. It is only now things are starting to right themselves some.

Being fat is a part of the problem.
fwiw, you can probably add 100000 onto China's final current number. Still like the rest of Asia, blows the "west" away.
China probably has one of the lowest obesity rates on earth. I'm sure their tally is a total lie though.
COVID just gave many people on the brink a little nudge off the cliff.

Are we really going to ignore obesity rates and how that has played into all of this?
