I'm also in the seafood business. I had a home delivery service for 5 months. We were expanding and then two things happened. Suburban house wives went back to the supermarket. 24 other people decided to get into the fresh food delivery service.
UPS/Fedex or was this handled by your company?

Probably not. Some people are never gonna leave their homes again. They are pretty much scarred for life.
My seafood shipping business has tripled in valuation due to COVID.
My retirement is in sight at 42. These people are simply wonderful.

The "science is real" sign people have completely ignored the changing science and are now anti science zealots . There is no science to back up wearing masks outdoors.
Bizarro world
Yea, you're simply not mitigating any viral spread wearing them outside. In Michigan you only saw people wearing them in liberal leaning cities....virtually no one did so in conservative areas.
It was more about virtue signaling than saving lives. I personally liked breathing.

I'm not requiring masks in my business.
About 25% of people are still wearing them.

I agree.... there are plenty of perfectly breathable screen door masks for sale on Etsy these days.

I was only 5 but I actually remember 1988 a little bit. That year clearly reigns supreme for extreme heat. I honestly do not know how they survived the 1930s to 50s with much less air conditioning and so much extreme heat
No A.C. in my childhood home at that time. We slept in the basement quite often that miserable summer.

See, this is a tricky one, and it may depend on how one defines the Midwest. Going back over, say, the last 10 years, I don't really see a signal for less severe weather regionwide. Maybe if you pick out certain states or look at certain seasons, but that would take some time to look into.
Lower Michigan is a virtual deadzone for severe. Probably not much different than Boston these days.

Pure Michigan suckage
I don't know if it's just the way we remember things, but it sure seems like t-storm activity around here has been non-existent compared to years past.

The Wunderground interactive map/radar looping tool makes the NWS version look like a child's toy.

Does Michigan still get T-storms or did climate change ruin that?
Almost May 1st and no lightning strikes seen yet.

I would argue that there’s both.
The media only cares abour ratings and advertisement rates. A non-story isn't profitable.

I figure companies like Volkswagen, Nissan, GM, Ford, etc. will pick up the slack (they already have nice electric/hybrid lineups.)
We really should be expanding on use of nuclear too, that will pick up a lot of the slack.
One thing about removing CO2 I was wondering about....okay so today, this very day, NASA reported success of that machine they put on Mars that converts CO2 to O2, just like plants do. Why can't that be scaled up and be used here to convert CO2 to oxygen just like what we're doing on Mars?

Here's the problem.....the Paris accord is not nearly enough. It's not even a half measure, it's a quarter measure. We must apply strong pressure to get all nations to set quicker timelines for the end of fossil fuel consumption.
Talk is cheap.
We need advancement....and currently the private market is almost exclusively driving the advancement. Elon Musk is single handedly the world leader in speeding this process up.
We can't just stop fossil fuels cold turkey. There needs to be a way to remove co2 from the atmosphere.

Finished with 4.4" here. Detroit got 3.5". Detroits southeast suburbs to the Ohio border got 3-6" with much less to the north.
The 3.3" at Detroit on 4-20 was a record for the date. This was the 4th heaviest snowstorm on record this late in the season, and just the 9th time in 140 years that a 1"+ snowfall occurred on or after April 20th.
The scenery this morning was absolutely amazing. Thick snow on blossoms was unlike anything I'd ever seen before.

Too many liabilities for too few people. I am ready to dump my investment in civilization. It's no different you seem pretty capitalist minded.
I'm realistic. The only solutions people will rally behind are those with as little impact on their lives.
Sucking the CO2 out of the atmosphere in Nevada to pull down the levels in England are palatable for most of us. You seem like you have ulterior motives at control...you'll be watching the world burn with that kind of thinking.

We are losing the ability to mass mobilize on an industrial scale in part due to COVID and resource shortages which are soon to be real shortages quantitatively. Economic prosperity is extinguishable.
Just burying enough CO2 to keep CO2 concentrations stable is not enough. We would lose all coastal cities to rapid sea level rise. Put simply ... we waited too long and as a civilization we are losing the ability to provide people with a decent quality of life which negates the whole purpose of a civilization.
There's no precedent for what route an advanced intelligent civilization needs to take to safeguard the planet.
Do you really think there was a blueprint for all of this?
Bury CO2 and let technology advance to carbon neutral. That's your option at this point.

We could do a moonshot global project to bury co2 if we really wanted to, but the key is to get enough governments and people to make the push.
Transitioning to carbon neutral is underway in most developed nations already, we could bury it faster than developing countries are producing it....but again, who makes the first move?

That’s where I would be alarmed. Outside of the cold season, highs, lows, everything has made a steady climb of anywhere from 3-5 degrees for the most part. UHI affects lows more than highs, and DTW is nearly 20 miles from downtown, yet the daily highs in July and August have increased by about 5 degrees over the last century. I thought for a minute that my use of the word “catastrophic” was extremist, but now that I see the data, I stand by my use of that word, because the data affirms it.
The only holdup I have when discussing AGW relates to the warming that took place from 1880s till the 1940s. The amount of increased CO2 was quite minimal, yet the warming was similar to the 1970s to 2010's. I mean....did 280ppm to 310ppm really make enough difference to equal the rise from 320 to 410ppm?

Thats because most likely the damage had already been done. Have to remember that there is a two week lag time. Then you have to account for people like yourself who refuse to take this seriously
Damage has been done? Like....those who would be hospitalized or die have already succumbed to both...or what is it?

Any guesses on when the first "large and extremely dangerous tornado" warning comes out during today's severe? I'm going with 1:50 pm EDT or 12:50 CDT.
Also I'm really missing that NWS national radar mosaic .
Whoever implemented this change should be fired. I find myself using Weather.com for radar instead of Weather.gov these days.

Not really worried about COVID.... people within risk groups need to handle their business and let others get back to normal.
