Technological solutions are like a pandora's box. We should cut our losses now while we have the chance. If you are investor you know about loss mitigation.

People that opposed carbon sequestration don't care about climate, they have ulterior motives.

20 years of following this topic has solidified this opinion.

We don't destroy our way of life and the climate is saved until we develop 100% energy usage from the sun.

China's time table is 2060, which is way too late.  There definitely needs to be strong economic pressure applied to both countries, and others like Brazil who are destroying their forests.  We also need sequestration methods, because we're already at higher levels than we can tolerate.  We'll be at +1.5 C within 5 years.

In the grand scheme of things.... none of this will matter LONG term.

150 years isn't shit. Humans and other animals can live with higher temps, new coast lines and more co2 in the atmosphere. We want to avoid TOO much extinction and damage to flora/fauna.

Technology is moving us in the right direction, but we can head all this off with carbon sequestration. It's the easy option for all of this and also reduces ocean acidification too.

They see the extremes, I would argue for what I call collectivism.  It's a more social responsibility route where companies are answerable to society and the environment, not just their shareholders.  Some companies (like Dan One) are already doing this.  Companies like this sign a social responsibility contract and agree to abide by its terms in order to do business.  It's a win/win/win for everyone.

But it's not going to happen. We need someone to figure out a proper way to pull down the current Co2 levels from any location on earth. Unless China or India suffered direct pain, it won't happen.

    READ THIS LOUD AND CLEAR

CAPITALISM IS UNSUSTAINABLE BECAUSE IT IS BASED ON SELFISHNESS AND GREED AND THAT WILL ALWAYS LEAD TO A DEAD END OUTCOME

This is the worst possible route you can take in an effort to fix this problem right here.

You try to sell this and most people will check out.

Carbon capture and sequestration is the only solution we have to negate the carbon already in the atmosphere and the additional carbon already in the pipeline.

I'll climb a damn tree if I have to. I don't care anymore. I just need to do something to break the boringness. Yes I know it's not that simple, but at this point even seeing what the Northwoods are like would be a treat compared to sitting on my cheeks at home.

You haven't been to the Northwoods yet and you live in Wisconsin?

Easy to describe, it's nicer than where you live. Simply put.

this is the actual fear porn

This comes from the same guy (forky) who openly pushed for a vaccine mandate nationwide, basically confirming what Joe is saying here.

Drudge is a right wing site but it seems they really didn’t like Trump and stuck it to him when they could.

Drudge was sold a few years ago.... the site keeps a few eyes on conservative writers and links those stories to pay the bills, but readership has plunged.

There is a thread on this very board where people of the same exact social and political persuasion are taking bets on which one of us will die first.

The same forum where people wish for strong hurricanes, cares about some fat conservative guy dying of covid 7 states away.

    Right....

it’s part of a conversation. So overly sensitive

White adults are the largest % of the total population as a whole , so of course they will have the highest number unvaccinated . . I don’t blame the unvaccinated , I personal don’t care who is or who isn’t .

But trying to solve a “problem” and ignoring huge discrepancies In total percentage by ethnicity vaccinated is par for the course for people who don’t solve problems and just whine And name call bc it’s become politically correct

My parents and other age susceptible people in my life are vaccinated, I'll probably get around to it eventually. Not a big priority considering my age and health. I'm probably more likely to die in a car accident on the way to getting the vaccine.

It's a disease that killed half a million people.

Every variant will be concerning for the foreseeable future

And the vaccine won't change any of that. They're going to keep coming one after another. Remember the "flu" and "colds". How many of those colds were cornaviruses? Might as well try to lockup the boogeyman so small children can stop worrying about him too.

It's indoor cold/flu season in the south. They have a spike every summer. People from the south have chimed in on these threads to tell you chowderheads that but you don't listen.

It's amazing how badly some people want this to never end.

We need to put the vaccinated into camps so you guys don’t spread the virus or fall prey to ADE from a variant. It’s the only way out of this pandemic.

Execute the unvaccinated and then burn their bodies to reduce exposure to everyone else.

Hate to say I told you so:

Time to wake up and stop blaming the unvaccinated. Vaccinating everyone forever is not happening dummies.

I take steps everyday to avoid risks too great to ignore. This...this one, just doesn't stack up. The virus kills obese, elderly and other folks with one foot in the grave. We're trying to chase a common cold. It never worked previously, it's not going to work this time either.

Unless Delta lacks this profound effect on taste/smell, that would be the telltale between covid and cold.  The latter affects those senses somewhat due to plugged nose/sinuses but no one I know has had one that came anywhere close to total taste/smell loss.  My "summer" cold undoubtedly came from an all-day indoor meeting, masks on except for meals, on June 8.  On 6/10 I had a wicked sore throat, next day a deep chest cough and congestion, and day 3 a loud hacking dry cough.  By day 4 I was feeling pretty good but started into the 4-5 weeks of more frequent than usual dry cough that follows all my colds.  That meeting was the first such even I'd attended since early March of 2020 - no coincidence.

I'm really hoping that more and more office work can shift to remote permanently. Between the advantages of reducing carbon emissions, less office buildings being needed and traffic.... these changes help out everyone. Let the people who have to drive to a physical location do so without being bogged down with traffic originating from people who don't need to be contributing to the congestion.

BMI can be really flawed.  Many fit and low fat athletes would come in as obese.

Right. I have added substantial muscle mass to my body and find that BMI calculators are useless for me.

    I was 270 lbs. @ 6' 5" in 2015

I'm now 250 lbs. with about 25 lbs of more muscle.

A couple of my vaccinated friends are sick and they are all doing the same thing, making up other mysterious illnesses and ailments to explain away their COVID symptoms. Is this some vaxxed-person coping mechanism? It's a good thing if you get mild COVID and recover easily. Why be scared of that?

I felt like crap for a couple days last week and immediately assumed it was delta COVID since it seemed to fit the pattern. It's just not a big deal.

Virtually everyone I know who tested positive for COVID had a runny nose and a week of no taste or smell. They described it as a cold, but with a week long lack of those two senses. A big meh for the most part.
