Figured we were well below normal for DJF.
Not really. Pretty normal temps.

Going from a foot, to 4-8 to 2-4 so fast is just this winter in a nutshell
You might not see an inch. I might not see 1.5

Pretty normal month, but should be able to chip into the negative departure and keep the above normal streak alive.

hottest year in modern history and looks like we're gonna escape the summer without a death ridge
should probably consider ourselves lucky
We slowly cook these days. I haven't exceeded 94F since 2021.

You mean that poorly sited PWS that's surrounded by trees
Wednesday when the original post was made
Howell airport KOZW was actually 88 when my PWS was at 88.7.
All the PWSs in the area were within 1F on the high.
Stebo gatekeeping weather data
EDIT: I had those reversed. My PWS was warmer than the airport.

The one that's within 0.3F annually of the other 10 surrounding stations.

Toledo had 99 yesterday (broke a record), 93 today. It was 100 and 96 intra-hour high temps at Toledo's KTDZ. This airport seemingly has been running just a bit higher than TOL for a while. And it's always possible this isn't an equipment bias.
Topped out at 87° yesterday in Howell.
That's a huge temp gap given the distance isn't that far.

They average more strictly from Lake Erie influence. It isn't a snow hole just because its not in the snowbelt. There are actually places in the banana belt of the upper peninsula & northeast Lower peninsula of michigan that average around or slightly less know than Detroit or Pittsburgh (but more snowcover). Detroit averages 7-8" more than Toledo, but it's more extreme in warm winters, with last year being a great example. It's like the old saying, sometimes you have to smell the rain to get the best snow. That was the case last winter. Some great storms and snowfall rates but not for cold and snow cover
I'm not sure about this. The lowest is probably near Escanaba, but even they average at least 70. It goes WAY up as you go north from there.

This is not accurate. I easily had more than 5 inches.

Yea one minute it's heavy snow, next its rain. Always riding that line here on the east side it seems.
I'm at 32 in Howell.
Detroit is above freezing at 3000Ft.

Oh I know. I just meant early on. A few hours of temperature spike and dry slot are imminent.
The dry-slot on the GFS has Howell as a low spot in Michigan.

If we don't lose the snow currently on the ground it should help. Starting from bare wet ground
There's a possibility of something interesting. I think the best spot in Michigan will be around Houghton Lake.

I am hoping we can get a 6" or so solid/glacier like base on the ground which the LES will freshen up.
Temp will probably top out around 35. It's hard to say, but I'm not expecting much now.

the drying trend across 12z bad for everybody
It's the too-far-from-the-ocean moisture adjustment.
