  1. Kind of figured the sunset would be iffy, but I was out there just in case. Pre-sunset when I got out to the pond... Best color of the evening... Way past the best time but I like the color...
  2. Made it out to the pond for the sunset this evening. What I started with as the post sunset began... As you can see, the breeze was up and I was not sure if the color would progress anymore. Luckily, the color did at least try and with the coming darkness the breeze did calm down a bit. So I was able to try some reflection images. Here was the best contrast... And here was the best color. I can not figure out which of the two I like better...
  3. Made it out to the pond for the sunset this evening. Got lucky that the retreating system hung on just long enough to give me some clouds to shoot. The bad news is that the breeze was up so no reflections stuff. The good news just running a straight lens without any filters allowed me to be spot on with the color. Started off at sunset with the clouds still white overhead.. The start of the orange overhead... The red was not quite as intense as I hoped. It was all kind of subtle...
  4. A little bit of color in the sky during the sunset this evening. Probably should have made a trip out to the pond but I just took this from the front yard with all the buildings in the way.

  6. A lot of contrast in the early morning sky here in central Indiana this morning. Thanks for all the views in the 2017 thread. And as usual will be deleteing the 2017 images to make room for the 2018 ones.
  7. I am so glad to hear this. But with the number of problems you do have, be patient, there will be an ad that pops up soonest that you do really need.

  9. THen remember dynamic range. The sensor on the satellite is reading between one third and one half of the world. Most of what it is looking at is not affected at all by the eclipse. Therefore, any dimming it sees gets shown as rather severe.
  10. Check out the definitions for umbra and penumbra.
  11. Yes. Especially seeing how I have a tooth or some other problem that has erupted this past week. I'll take my 90% and be fine with it. After all, it is not the end of the world, yet.

  13. Nuts, I rescheduled a teeth cleaning today due to conflict with vacation. Just realized that they picked the 21st. Well it is for 10a.m. so I should be done before the fireworks start.
  14. I would go with a 100% chance of a parking lot somewhere on I-70. Can you guess the number of distracted drivers during the event?
