  1. "On February 12, 2010, the CDC released updated estimate figures for swine flu, reporting that, in total, 57 million Americans had been sickened, 257,000 had been hospitalized and 11,690 people had died (including 1,180 children) due to swine flu from April through to mid-January."
  2. They just canceled my outpatient rehab program :( They say they are gonna try and do it via web conference.
  3. I think a more appropriate question is how many (thousands) of people already died from the Corona Virus in this country already? Think about it..
  4. "Pneumonia is the single largest cause of death in children worldwide. Every year, it kills an estimated 1.4 million children under the age of five years, accounting for 18% of all deaths of children under five years old worldwide" https://www.who.int/maternal_child_adolescent/news_events/news/2011/pneumonia/en/ Thats about 5,000 kids dying of Pneumonia every day
  5. @heavy_wx If (conservatively) 50,000 people in the US have Corona Virus (JHU) and probably more accurately a half million (read the article) and as you report ~10 of COVID-19 case are serious enough to require ICU treatment.... how are our hospitals not overwhelmed currently?
  6. "Ohio health official estimates 100,000 people in state have coronavirus" https://thehill.com/policy/healthcare/487329-ohio-health-official-estimates-100000-people-in-state-have-coronavirus "Johns Hopkins professor estimates at least 50,000 people have coronavirus in US" https://thehill.com/policy/healthcare/487562-johns-hopkins-professor-estimates-at-least-50000-people-have-coronavirus-in
  7. My bar is 7-11. If they close 7-11 then this is real.
  8. Well I went to starbucks this morning.. so I guess we are doomed!
  9. The best thing to do to lessen that impact would be to tell people not to show up at the emergency room if they get a cold. Realistically the worst thing that can happen is that too many people show up to the hospital asking for a test that doesnt exist. And even you do test positive, it is not gonna change the prognosis or the treatment.. Go home, get some rest, maybe take some antibiotics so it doesnt evolve in to a bacterial infection that could actually kill you..
  10. Of course they should have. Tournament or no tournament you are not going to stop the spread of a virus.
  11. Thats kinda of the same approach Walmart took.. in deciding whether or not they should protect their employees.. they sent everyone home from the Ivory Tower.. allowing all corporate employees to WFH. But when the rubber hit the road and they had to decide whether or not they were going to shut down stores.. it was as if someone said.. "Close down the stores? That would be like this is real" So when you pressed with the prospect of actually having to entertain your kids for 24 hours a day with no end in sight.. under the same roof.. common sense starts to take over.
  12. Canceling the NCAA Tournament was the gut punch. It was like.. "your not gonna take this seriously... then how about we cancel your little tournament.. " I can deal with the kids being home.. I can deal with the empty toilet paper aisles.. shoot I can even deal with them canceling the St Patrick's day events... but canceling the NCAA tournament is talking it a little too far. Someone should have stepped in and did something about that.
  13. I just used the money that I had saved to pay my taxes this year to buy shares of Hilton, American Airlines and Disney.
  14. I cant tell you how much I agree with what you are saying.. finally someone with audacity to come out and say the obvious. given the fact that most people dont get sick and when they do test, they see the disease being transmitted at a very high rate, I wouldnt be surprised if I am carrying the virus right now.. leaving the common sense stuff aside I think that there is a bigger social issue that is going on here.. it feels like overnight we have become an altruistic society... one that views every situation as right or wrong... with no room for people to make their own informed decision. There is no risk - reward analysis.
  15. I think @Weather Will is beginning to crack
  16. It looks like on April 10th 1894 we got a warning level event here. So there is still plenty of time.
  17. I started one the other day and that threat is trending in the right direction
  18. its not really inside 10 days. And we have seen better snow maps in the 7-10 day period.
