Made it to 87 here today, MLI hit 88. DVN actually beat MLI and was 89'd. Point has 89 for Wed, so one more shot at 90 I guess. Looks like we'll finish Sep with 0.76".
Lots of harvesting taking place the past week or so.
Yeah I was kind of puzzled by the introduction of severe drought in the Cedar Rapids area, as that area got dumped on pretty nicely in August while other areas continued to become more and more parched.
Already 80 at MLI, which is 4 degrees ahead of yesterday when they made it to 87. Looks like no high clouds to COC block us today either, and winds are more westerly, which usually helps temps to overachieve at MLI.
Blobs of severe drought showing up now in the area. Looks like Hawkeye's area in severe now, and Geo's old stomping grounds are in a desert wasteland now lol. Hopefully we can get some beneficial rains later in Oct, but plant/garden watering season is basically over so it won't really matter lol.
The 3km NAM shows a good 12hr period of lake effect showers pouring in off LM into northeast IL/northwest IN tomorrow night.
Dews are hovering around 70 this morning. Looks like quite a stretch with dews in the 40s or even lower at times after today. Euro shows afternoon dews in the lower 30s Thursday here in the DVN cwa.
Hit 93 here today, 91 at MLI. Today was MLI's 31st 90 degree day of the year.
Hoping for a decent rain tomorrow night, but looks like the band of convection will be on a decreasing trend when it arrives late eve. 1.50" here since late July.
I'm ready for a cold/wind-driven heavy fall soaker. The warm/humid, hazy/smoky, mostly boring storm season has grown tiresome. Haven't mowed in almost 4 weeks, I guess that's a plus lol.
Looks like we'll finish August with a paltry 1.03" of rain here.
MLI hit day number 30 AOA 90 yesterday, 20 AOA 90 degree days here. Surprised there was that much difference between here and there, we're usually pretty similar.
Was hoping for some more Iowa scraps but the storms are crapping the bed along DVN's western border. Glad I didn't put off watering again. 1.03" for August. Hopefully we'll make a run at 1.25" in the next few days.
1st line skipped over, 2nd one veered south at last second towards more unstable air. Still managed to pick up 0.40" of mostly anvil rain. Enough to tease the crab grass lol. Wasn'y really expecting anything today so that's a plus.
Hottest temp of the year today at MLI at 96, here it hit 95 which ties the hottest which also happened June 11th.
EDIT: Picked up a lol worthy 0.06" with the first line.
