  1. 95 today at MLI and also here, which is the hottest so far this year at both locations. Sterling hit 96. Picked up 0.04" of light anvil rain. Nice to hear thunder again at least. Also cooled down 20 degrees from earlier.
  2. Looks like a picked a wrong year to plant new trees lol. Hope they like well water.
  3. MLI hit 94 today for their hottest to date, hit 93 here which is also the toastiest to date.
  4. Almost 4" of rain fell near Mount Carroll late last evening from some very slow moving cells. Looks like our first mid 90s tomorrow and maybe Sat. Last night's Euro shows widespread 103+ over Iowa next Thursday.
  5. This time last year the COVID thread dominated the sub, this year it appears the drought thread will dominate lol. Next year it will probably be a UFO thread.
  6. In the past RFD did really well when drought conditions were present. I remember back in 2012 they were one of the hottest spots in IL till they finally got some rain and then other places like MLI and ORD were hotter again. As for LAF they seem pretty erroneous compared to surrounding sites on a consistent basis. Hottest day of the year so far here at 92, MLI/DVN languished at only 91/88 respectively.
  7. Looks like a good chance at no rain at all for the next 10 days. Hope to get under one of the isolated cells tomorrow, but it's looking pretty bleak. This is gonna be one of those benchmark seasons we mention in years to come, "at least this ain't like 2021" etc. lol.
  8. Hit 89 here today with hit and miss storms missing this area. Heard some thunder leaving work which was nice. 3rd thunder event this year lol.
  9. Been in the low 70s all afternoon with the clouds and precip, so a nice break in the heat. Finished with 0.30" of anvil rain.
  10. Picked up a few tenths from dying convection/anvil rains. About 2 miles southeast got 1"+. Nice to hear thunder at least.
  11. The snooze-fest since the Feb snows shut off appears to continue unfortunately. What an unfortunate stretch of weather we have here for weather enthusiasts. Drought talk is of course relevant in the areas where it's festering, but it's sad that it's the highlight of the sub's weather discussion this summer. A garden variety thunderstorm would be the highlight of the year if it were to occur for most of us lol. Fu cking pathetic.
  12. Blowtorch and mixing aside I can't ever remember seeing temps around here that warm this late without a dew over 70 let alone dews below 60. Crazy stuff this far north. EDIT: Kind of a funny thought that just 8 days ago we failed to get out of the freakin' 40s ALL DAY.
  13. Extremely impressive to see temps in the mid to upper 80s all across central MN at midnight. Usually to get temps to stay so hot this late into the night outside of UHI areas you'd need to have really high dews, but dews are mostly in the 50s. This is pretty incredible to say the least.
  14. Kind of sucks to be at 99 for over 2hrs and not attain the 100. Still impressive for so early though.
  15. Hit 92 at both MLI and DVN, 91 here today. Looks like some issues with more clouds/higher dews may make it a little tougher to hit 90 tomorrow in this area. Chances for scattered showers/storms increase though in coming days which is nice.
  16. Very nice! Is that the crib weather station site?
  17. First 90 degree day here/DVN/MLI today. MSP is already up to 98 as of 2pm, very impressive. A few 100 degree readings in southwest MN already.
  18. 89'd at both MLI and DVN today. Still waiting on 1st 90 degree day. Soils drying out so will get easier and easier going forward.
  19. No doubt. Fargo has 100/101 in their point for tomorrow/Saturday. Many people probably think it's an arctic wasteland after watching the movie Fargo lol.
  20. HRRR has 100 degree heat way up by International Falls tomorrow lol.
  21. Temps overachieved here today, was the warmest of the year so far at 87. DVN hit 88. Looks like the soup arrives next week. Dews AOA 70 widespread starting Mon or Tue per Euro. Ready 2 sweat.
  22. Looks like the first potential 90 degree day of the year this weekend/early next week for here and MLI.
  23. Look at those two huge vertical jumps in 2006 in March and April. Both were over twice what last year's August derecho added up to. That's pretty insane.
  24. I imagine that's gotta be about a once in a 100yr period or more kind of map for the sub.
