Sun is finally out here. Time to see if we can destabilize enough for a decent storm later.
-
Too many clouds here in the Lehigh Valley. It needs to clear in a hurry or else the evening action could be very underwhelming.
-

Slept through the storms somehow. Worst of it missed to my north by about 2-3 miles. Looks like much of the northwest side of Allentown is without power. Lots of photos on social media of trees down, some of them big ones.

Storms seem to be fizzling before they cross the Susquehanna so far today. Hopefully some can make it into our area later this evening.

The Lehigh Valley is the (un)lucky winner today. A little area of light rain (or heavy mist?) has been training over us for much of the late afternoon. Yet another rainy day. Getting a little sick of this.

Another year, yet another very slow start to thunderstorm season. It’s the middle of May and I can recall just one, maybe two storms here in Allentown. Looks like nothing in the forecast for at least the next week either. I know our peak is usually around July and August but I don’t remember spring being this dead year after year. Glad I’ve started chasing in the plains for a week or two every year because spring has just been boring here.

Clouds have started to clear in the Lehigh Valley. Hoping we get a good aurora show tonight since we couldn’t on Friday.
-
Seeing everyone else's aurora photos while the Lehigh Valley remains shrouded in clouds is a bit like getting flurries while 20 miles to the southeast is slammed with 2"/hr snowfall rates.

Northern lights will apparently be visible tonight. Too bad none of us will be able to see them. Damn clouds…

First decent storm of the year in Allentown. Gusty winds with some thunder and lightning. Hoping to see much more of this as the year goes on!
-
Uh…was there just an earthquake? Anyone else feel that?

0z models are faster with the wave of clouds and light rain. Good news for people like me who want to go to Ohio, since there’s a better chance there will be clearer skies by the time totality happens. Bad news for anyone planning to go to New York unless you stay near I-87.

Mixed rain and graupel near Allentown. I even heard a rumble of thunder. Does that count as thundersnow?

New England is better-- like Maine. Syracuse looks like it might be in doubt for this eclipse.
If I do take the New England route I’ll be booking a hotel in Albany on Sunday night, where there are still plenty of rooms available. From what I’m seeing, clear skies are likely east of Lake Ontario.

Was really hoping Ohio would be the best place for this as I have family there. But recent forecasts don’t seem very good. Looks like upstate NY could be the play for me. Gonna wait a day or two then make my plans.
-
Anyone traveling for the eclipse next week? I plan on going to northeast Ohio and staying with some family, with upstate NY as a plan B.
-
I plan on traveling to northeast Ohio for the eclipse as long as rain isn’t in the forecast for that day. I have a family member who lives in a Cleveland suburb who’s letting me stay at her place if I want to. Really hoping for clear skies - I’ll even settle for partly cloudy.

The moon is extremely bright tonight. I noticed it casting a very prominent shadow on the trees in my yard.

Just had a really gusty shower pass through Allentown. It was almost like a thunderstorm, but without thunder and lightning.
-
Getting some snow flurries in western Lehigh County right now.
-
Already seeing some trees blooming here. I can't remember seeing that this early. Usually it doesn't happen till early April.

Not much to write home about in Allentown. Just some sprinkles while lightning flashed in the distance to the north.
