So looking at everything I think the following records are in play at BWI (hard to keep all these straight lol): Daily record high: Dec. 23, 24, 25 Daily record high minimum: Dec. 24, 25 Monthly record high: Dec. 24

Something else I was wondering but don't have enough data- what's the record for most number of 70+ degree days in December (and also any winter month) for BWI?

For BWI, using the 1981-2010 normals, I think 1/26/1950 might hold the record for biggest positive departure- I calculated a +37 departure for that day. 12/22/2013 was a +32 departure and the next best one I know of. For negative departure, I got -37 for 2/10/1899 and -33 for 1/19/1994. There may be others but that's the best I'm aware of.

My new goal is to tie or beat the monthly record high (77 degrees) on Christmas Eve. LWX forecast is up to 73 now.

I looked up BWI and found the biggest gap between #1 and #2 hottest of any month is 1.7 degrees between Nov. 1931 (54.7 degrees) and Nov. 1948 (53 degrees). Here's the gap in degrees between #1 and #2 in all 12 months: Jan 0.5 Feb 0.2 Mar 1.1 Apr 0.8 May 0.3 Jun 0.9 Jul 0.2 Aug 0.3 Sep 1.0 Oct 0.3 Nov 1.7 Dec 0.3

Christmas Eve (along with Dec. 27) actually has the lowest record high for any day in December (65 degrees). I think we'll break the Christmas Eve one this year.

BWI is now at +9.1 which is #1... hopefully this weekend's seasonal weather doesn't ruin it too much.

Ugh down to 46 already, high minimum is about to get taken out. :-(

Actually I'm wondering if BWI can get the high minimum today too (46). Tonight into the morning should be no problem but the low for Tues night/ Wed morning is forecast to be 40- not sure if we can hold it through midnight.

BWI almost backed into a 4th straight record high at midnight. Lol this is unbelievable.

I wonder if we can get today too? LWX has 69 & record is 71- just need a little nudge! We missed high minimum by one degree today. :-(

Yep, another record high for BWI. High minimum is off the table though. This is exciting to track- I wonder if we have a real chance at a top 5 hottest December at BWI. Headed back outside now to enjoy the beautiful weather

Record high tied today at BWI (71). Tomorrow's looking good too. How did the other airports do?

1917 was tied for 2nd coldest at BWI- 1989 was #1 by a pretty large margin. The most frustrating Decembers were 2011 and 2012, which finished 16th and 11th, respectively. I hope we can torch our way to #1 but we'd have to put up a +9.0 departure to get hottest December ever (1931) so that's gonna be very hard.

We're getting a storm worthy of this list this winter. I make forecasts you can trust. Poll for "best winter period ever" will be coming towards the end of the season, I'm holding off cause I know some week this February will be making that list too. -
Awful... BWI is down to 11th after yesterday, and today is probably going to screw us even more.

We're still at +4.3 with (I think) three good +departure days coming up... maybe we can still get this after all.

Yeah, we lose so many that way with 11:59pm lows, its frustrating. Same way when midnight highs ruin a record lowest max.

BWI missed the record highest min by just one degree... oh well, at least this will still keep us in a good position to hold onto the big positive departure we got going.

If BWI would finish with the current +6 departure, that would be 3rd hottest Nov. I'd say a top 10 hottest Nov. would be a good shot if it weren't for the extended forecast- that's probably going to knock it down a lot.
