Rain this weekend and rain next weekend? Need to get out of this 7 day precip pattern.
It rains every goddamn weekend in this region now, I can't stand it.

Skies here have that hazy wildfire look like in fall 2020.

Welp... , here we go again? (from LWX disco): Additional shower chances are expected Friday and Saturday as another wave of low pressure and resultant trough settle into the region.
My Huntingtown sister and fam went to OC MD this weekend for kite weekend
Accg to maps and nearby reports got about 0.44 overnight to push total to about 1.55 which is perfect especially how spread out it was. Temp seemingly locked at 51
Yeah, I finally caved. Put in for a half day off next week. Can’t do anything on the weekends here anymore.
Had some more rain this morning which puts me at 3.97” for the storm total, and my 10th largest rain event since I’ve moved here.
-
3.76” and I’m hoping it’s over now, my sump pump had a hard time keeping up with that final burst.
-
Just passed the 3” mark here and still raining lightly.

Ah, the usual Maryland spring- where every weekend rains to ruin my plans, and midweek (when I work) is beautiful and sunny.

Anyone here going to the Severe Skywarn class on May 15 in Landover? There's a good chance I'll be attending.

Patuxent River Naval Air Station gusted to 70 mph.
Yeah this has been our biggest wind event here since March 2018. Lost power for a bit too. I was skeptical of the High Wind Warnings when issued, but it’s definitely verified here!

Thanks for running the contest Rodney. Hopefully next year it’s busier.
(Btw LittleVillageWx trophy image isn’t loading for me, but I’m on my phone so maybe it’s just me)

I’m not giving up, I’m going down with the ship. Wave 3 or bust.
If we can’t snow in this setup, I may switch sides though.

life is too short to let that stuff get to you.
Maybe but tbh this place is too toxic. I've been here 12 years and it just gets worse every time. I probably should've left for good when my oldest son's mental health issues were made fun of by several posters in OT, but even the Wx side subforums are trash now mostly.

I love the rich snob flex on here. It used to be more subtle, like "I'll post a deck pic of my 10,000 sq ft McMansion covered in snow" ...now it's progressed to "here's a pic of my $2k a night resort, btw you all getting snow?"

That's a KU on the 6z GFS.
Not trolling, I'm pushing all my chips into this storm already... five year anniversary of the 2018 storm, fits my second half of March timeframe, and we seem to be re-running 2018.

Pretty strong signal for the 18-20th.
There it is...
Reminder that I have thread rights during this time frame, called it months ago

I’m calling early thread rights for any snowstorm here from March 16-31. Now’s the time to get in early, during the capitulation phase.
Momentum is building, last chance for you all to get in cheap.

Let's hope this month isn't as boring as The Mandalorian was last night.

Yeah it woke us all up at 4am, I wasn’t expecting that either.

Beautiful clear view of the Venus Jupiter conjunction right now. So glad the mostly cloudy forecast busted.

I don’t know much about 1904-05, I’ll have to research it given you ranked it so highly.
I looked this up- December 1904 was the GOAT. I’d take that even over December 2009 despite less snow overall.

It's interesting that the Good Old Days also had some very warm winters -- it's just that they were much less frequent than nowadays.
Late 1940's / early 1950's seemed to be an incredibly warm and bad stretch too: The 1948-49 winter was 3rd warmest, and 1949-50 was tied for 4th warmest. 1949-50 was also the least snowiest year on record for BWI. Somehow 1948-49 managed to score 19.9" despite being so warm though. 1950 did feature a colder than average March after the DJF torch though.

I'm calculating the unweighted DJF average for BWI to be 42.0, which is tied for 4th warmest with 1880 and 1950.

DCA's climo is just awful as you get to Mid-March. The last time there was a 6"+ snowstorm in Mid-March or later was the '93 superstorm. Prior to that was 1942.
IAD has at least scored a couple of other times, in 1964 and 2014.
All of BWI's 6"+ events appear to be 1964 or prior, with the exception of '93.
But I'm sure we'll score in the warmest year on record.
I got 7.3" on 3/21/2018 and 6" on 3/17/2014. It's not too rare down here. I still like my March 16-31 time period for us to get hit this year.
