  1. Frost tonight and 90 by Sunday. The bimodal distribution continues
  2. I haven’t moved the rain magnet from my old house yet, so congrats SOMD
  3. Heading back down to Prince Frederick tomorrow to dig up our orange azalea (another one of my favorites) and bring it up here. It's risky, but it's likely to die down at our old place anyway at this rate, as no one's taking care of the yard... By the time we ever find a buyer I think that yard's gonna be stripped bare of plants.
  4. He had a lot of good arrangements, like having his daughter sit on the county planning and zoning committee while also representing him as a realtor Anyway as for garden stuff IMBY… I divided my Lord and Lady Baltimore hibiscus (my favorite flowers at my old house) and brought them up here. The Lord is doing well, the Lady… not so good. I ordered a Korean Fir to plant here too. I wanted one for years, but SOMD was out of the zone range. Hopefully it grows here.
  5. They can put it back after the home is completed though? Instead our builder used to sell it off to their landscaping contractor, who then turned around and bilked the HOA at double the market price for landscaping the common areas (of which the builder at the time sat on the HOA board). Ah, the good old days of Calvert… lmao
  6. Had the same issue when I lived there with our new construction: the builder stole everyone's topsoil and sold it, leaving you with unusable subsoil and sand that they just threw sod over (which looked nice for the final walkthrough but quickly died). Wasted years trying to get anything to grow. If you have the time/money, I'd recommend getting the entire yard covered with several inches of topsoil and re-seed.
  7. I recently read a book on ancient Rome- did you know the “kids these days” routine can even be found back then?
  8. Sorry man, I moved out of Prince Frederick and took the rain (and snow?) with me to the mountains. It really is happening, I knew it would. My old yard in PF is burning up. Driest month ever there since I had started keeping track.
  9. Yikes I just realized the Japanese Maple the previous owners planted just got severely freeze damaged. All the leaves are curled up and black now. It was too big to cover but hopefully it can come back…
  10. This was an oddly appropriate night to be unpacking and sorting Christmas decorations in our new home lol
  11. Definitely bimodal lol Why is it so hard to just do a climo spring day in the upper 60’s
  12. There was a hail storm here too while parked at a gas station in Ranson.
  13. It was a good winter, but I have to give it a B+ which really is a shame. But the highlights were: Snowed in DJFM (finally got December snow!) Historic snow/sleet/ice storm followed by brutal cold and a solid three weeks of snowcover. The March 12 historic cold drop and snow But at the end of the day, while it may have felt like deep winter, it really didn't snow all that much. I only ended up with 14.3" seasonal total (including sleet), which is below-average here. Honestly I preferred the 24/25 winter IMBY, with it's climo+ snowfall, 1/6 MECS and snowpack refreshers all month.
  14. I didn’t think your area could even reach 90 on March 22. There are no guardrails anymore lol
  15. I was joking too btw… except the 30,000 days message was legit. Definitely not using a location-based screen name anymore though.
  16. Yeah I changed it last time I moved (around 2014).
  17. Snark with nothing useful, thanks
  18. I need to change my screen name since I’m moving out of Prince Frederick, but it says I can only change it once every 30,000 days. Can anyone help me?
  19. I’m the only one that has an airport exactly right (IAD) and I’m only 0.1 off on DCA. This has happened several years now, where I’d be the winner if RIC wasn’t included. The solution is to… kick Richmond out of this contest, obviously.
  20. He worked for Accuweather in 1979-80 and visited the DC area a few times, but he was just a fan of weather in general I think. But he used to tell me the Mid-Atlantic subforum was much friendlier and open to outsiders compared to others and that was often why he posted here.
  21. I will be in your region soon, and rain and snow seems to follow me wherever I go. You all will thank me next winter.
  22. We’re gonna snow again at the end of the month. I still have the snowboard out.
  23. Winds stopped here too. That was insane IMBY… hopefully the beach wasn’t damaged.
  24. Yikes has it been confirmed at Breezy Point? My phone got a broadcast message from the county government. Power is back on here.
