Its almost 4pm and supposedly the precip is going to end around midnight. That leaves us with 8 hours. They are forecasting 6-8 unless they lower the amounts with their afternoon update. Since it hasnt even started snowing, there have to be some insane rates if we are to get 6 inches.
-
Temp finally fell to 32. Trees are icy.

Nah, I'd bet your good for 4 to 6. Think the cutoff is gonna be from an Indy to Muncie line. As Jay said that cold air is going to come in like a rocket, already is on meso analysis, and be a liitle too much too late for me. Your closer to the energy and should get a couple more hours of snow than I will
I hope you are right. It's just frustrating waiting for that first flake to fall. It's 230 pm and still haven't seen a flake or even any sleet or freezing rain.
-
I'm afraid the defo band will set up shop south and east of here. This may end up being a huge bust. I doubt I see a flake.
-
I'm shocked ILN hasn't downgraded the Warning in many areas.

had every type of frozen precip known to man except snow here. Pushing a 1/4 inch of ice. These winds tonight are really going to be a concern with the amount of ice.
I guess I should be thankful we are just getting a cold rain here. Holding steady at 33.

YeeHaw!! nothin but crap around here lol
Don't worry, your forecast says the Snow and Freezing Rain will change to All Snow after noon. Just 30 more minutes.

What a joke the models have been with this storm. Might as well not even look at models anymore if they are this bad. I'm just hoping at this point to get an inch with the deformation band.

I still don’t understand why people do this. It’s not the 1940’s, even if we got a foot of snow, give it a day at the most and roads will be fine to travel on.
I've seen an inch of snow shut down roads for 2 days in Georgia.

This is a very accurate precip type radar.
You're all gonna need one lol
Not accurate here. Shows snow or maybe a mix but its just rain
-
Im afraid all this rain is gonna make roads a nightmare later. 33 and rain here.

Welcome to the edge with the rest of us.
It's kind of exciting in a way not knowing what to expect.

Where are you located?
Richmond, Indiana... about 40 miles west of Dayton.

I honestly have no idea what to expect tomorrow. Could be a blizzard, could be an icestorm, could be flooding maybe ?
-
Is the deformation band going to impact Eastern Indiana at all or will it be mainly an Ohio thing ?

ILN has 6-10" for Columbus. Curiously, they also have 8-12" for Madison County. Not sure how that works.
Where are you getting the 6-10" ? I typed in Columbus and under the Winter Storm Warning headline it says 5-8.
-
Why are there 3 counties south of Lima that are in between 2 areas of Warnings ? Makes no sense. Don't offices need to coordinate with each other ?

With the ice potential and 40mph wind gusts yeah probably There's still a lot of uncertainty on the snow totals right along I70.
I'm going with 3-6" for my area near the OH border. Have a feeling I will get more ice than predicted.

As did IND. 4-7".
The Winter Storm Warning for Indy says 3-5". Is 3-5" enough for a Warning Criteria ?

ILN just issued Winter Storm Warnings for essentially the Muncie-Columbus corridor, which *seems* like the most certain area to get big snow totals despite all the variations in models this AM. Winter Storm Watches remain elsewhere.
Muncie is not under a warning and they are not in the ILN area.

Has me 12-18. Makes little sense unless they think higher ratios.
I'm loving that area in E/SE IN where the 8-12 borders the 3-4 inch area. Do offices not coordinate with each other ?

It's an interesting call for us in Indy area. We really need a big storm bad. Kind of bummed feeling good about this all week for it to turn into this typical I70 game again
3 to 5 inches is still a pretty good storm isnt it ?

Is anyone getting snow this morning ? Its 1030 am and I still havent seen a flake.

I wonder if the snowpack already in place will benefit us ?
