Some forecasts that weighed heavily on the Euro, took it up the Kuch last winter. As @TimB84 alluded too, the GFS has fairly normal temps for most starting a week from today. Not cold but lows in the low 50's and upper 40's.

That is another issue. At MDT we are still below normal for our high right now but basically today's high is going to be "normal" it appears. But it does not feel like a chilly fall day. its muggy.

That is the point. If it were in the 50's now (highs) , it would not be normal. Its been too warm but its supposed to be in the 70's for highs and low 50's for lows right now. So highs of 68 or 74, etc...pretty normal...or lows of 54, 49...pretty normal.

If we had highs in the 50's right now, some would be complaining about no fall as well...right into winter. I think most real fall weather people remember came from times in November vs. October. Just an opinion. I remember sweating in my Halloween mask every year. I went as Elliott Abrams.

The normal high at MDT does not drop into the 50's until November 2nd.

We got quick hitting but loud storm around 11 last night. ~ .25" in 10 min. Looks like some areas of Adams, York and Lancaster did better with some in Lancaster getting 2.5".

Currently 73 degrees at Coffin Rock. Just 2 degrees cooler than MDT.

Yea, but its been down sizing it through each hour. A bit worried especially for me out here.

But the source region of air/temps as well as daylight hours are decreasing as we move into that area so it takes a real doozy of a "bad pattern" to have this same warmth 20 days from now. Could still be above average of course. No sign at all of a cold stretch.

True, I just felt a vibe in here today suggesting that records may fall. As you have alluded to several times, its really just the "new normal". Now if it is in the mid to upper 70's most of the second half of October, that is a bigger deal.

Neither LNS nor MDT got to 80 on their hourly readings. Do not have access to in between hour readings at the moment. Dew's in the low 60's so not too bad (MDT).

Just looked at every 18Z temps on the EC. Only one day where you would expect MDT to hit 80 (over the next 10). It's not at all fall like but also not record warm. Super ridge over us. Lot of lows in the 55-62 range.

When I peaked at it before I also saw a string of warm Octobers in the 40's and 50's. Not consecutive just on and off months where it was in the 80's 3-7 days during the month.

That is the month that had eight 80's and one 79.

In offices all around the country, people are up and walking around with nothing to do.

Manually went back to 2000 and the high for 80's in October was 8 days. Several years were 3-7 days and several were no 80's days. So probably not going to see any Oct with 20's after doing that little research but chance for some in the 10's. 1941 had 3 days in the 90's.

It was much hotter (at MDT) the first two weeks of October 2018. 15 and 16 degree departures though probably using the old normals. October 2nd, 2019 had a high of 93.

I do not have total 80 degree days by month available right now but I would guess it is into the double digits and possibly even 20's. No doubt it is above normal right now but its not really hot by record standards. The records highs for the first 12 days of October are all in the upper 80's and low 90's except for two 97's which are sort of anomalies. The record highs gravitate down into the mid 80's for the 3rd week of October and near 80 for the final week.
