Whoa, your cold streak continues...you were behind LNS, THV, CXY, etc...you and Chesco had the same temp!

Borrowed this from the MA board. A comment was made there about how this is not an El Nino result but think it is too small of a sample size to have too much concern about that.
-
THV is up to 67 or 68 making a daily temp range of 39 or 40!!

I was REALLY happy to hear that you're going to the game on Saturday.
I'm going to rant, and I will move on with this post, and please understand that this is not at all directed at you - I have followed Penn State football for 50 years. I went to Penn State. I am all about PSU. I'm also upset, disappointed, sad, and yes, even a bit angry about where we're at right now. I was watching a video this week where students last Saturday were yelling things like "you suck" to the players as they headed for the south endzone. This saddens me even more than what happened during the game. There is so much negativity right now - most of it at JF, but when the students are turning on their fellow student athletes...sigh.
I had very, very high hopes this year. Though, I was also hedging a bit since we were starting an unproven QB. I was concerned that the expectations might exceed the reality. That has proven to be true. And I know that most of my fellow PSU fans don't want to hear this (I'm not sure I want to hear myself say this) but we are 8-2, with a chance for another 11 win season. My son and I were eating in downtown Pittsburgh Saturday night and there was a group of PSU fans adjacent to us that were at the Beav earlier in the afternoon. They were all bitching and moaning about the game, the server comes to their table and interrupts them and says "yeah, well, I'm a student at Pitt...do you have any idea how much we'd love to be 8-2 right now?
We (PSU Nation) wants to get to that elite level SO bad that I think it's jaded us somewhat. There are 128 FBS teams in the country. You have OSU, Georgia, Alabama who perennially are in the mix for the title. Schools like Michigan, Clemson, USC, Texas, are often "up there" but certainly not always. USC has been down a lot. Clemson is barely over .500 this year. Same with some of the Florida schools. Point is, there are only a very few teams that seem to reload consistently - there are many other storied schools, some of which I mentioned, that are perceived to be elite but really aren't consistently there. Shoot, even Michigan had struggled for a few years.
All that to say - there are literally tens of thousands of seats available for Saturday's game on PSU's Ticket Exchange, and the going price is less than $10. It's clear that many are disgusted and have checked out. Whatever. Good for you to go and represent. I'll be watching just like I do every week. It's my school and we're a helluva lot better than most schools in the country.
Although...we might lose to Rutgers...
Your Florida reference rings true down there. If the team has not won a championship in the last year, it is not good enough for many of those fans. They do not care that all the other teams never get to do what they did.

60 and brilliant here. Great great day.
Just saw CXY is banging a 65. They are off to the races.

Late Noon. 64 and mostly sunny.
-
The smoke/haze is bad enough here that some people are throwing their lights on. Orange look to the day.

Sunny Florida hosts the wettest large city in the US for 2023 so far....also hosts one of the driest across the peninsula in Tampa/St Pete.

Seems like lots of mini-inversions scattered around now as several places dropped a degree or two since I checked an hour or two ago. Guessing that 53 temp is an error but the mid and low 40's are legit.

28 at FF course with another frost delay
You always beat expectations. Already up to 44 in Waynesboro and 46 in Southern Cumberland County at Pine Grove Furnace. It is super smokey as well.

26 this morning.
Well below freezing type cold air really cut off south of Harrisburg. Plenty of 40's to the south right now. It is 42 down below me in the valley/Waynesboro. Shorts and short sleeve day.

36 right now. Made it below freezing only once in the last several days.

Also reached 59 in Maytown, at MU, and I believe at LNS.
I have been mentioning the norms the last couple days because the perception was BN but the temps keep outpacing models and it does not end up BN.

Got up to 59 here. Seems MDT hit 60 or 61. That is going to equate to MDT being AN normal today.

I was still stuck at work when my wife texted about getting 7" - I knew then it was time to head home.
It was probably too late after she had the first few inches.

Ditto, worst I've experienced to this point. Once things got grid-locked it was game-over.. i remember so many vehicles just spinning their wheels on any type of incline.. just no ability to gain momentum. I considered pulling off into a parking lot and walking home the last 3 miles as I had a hungry pup at home. Probably the only snowstorm I didn't fully enjoy in my life.
It seemed to me that we had more of these situations back in the 2000-2005 time frame. I remember being stuck on 15 west several times over those winters.

Thanksgiving morning that year was pretty chilly - wife and I were walking the river trail and it was interesting to see hardly anyone out there and the few that were had dressed like it was the frozen tundra. Without looking, I think the high that day was only in the low 20s (?) with wind chills MUCH lower. I even sported a sweatshirt that day on the trail since wind chills were at or below zero.
One of the more fun snows/cold periods I have had in my 5-6 years back.
