And just to clarify I am not at all saying "winter is over". LOL But I have seen a lot of "Winter has not even started" posts (mostly in MA) and I do not agree with that concept which would suggest that March 20th is a more wintry time than Dec 20th. It's just not a good sign when long rangers are talking about sustained cold finally getting here in mid January a week or two after posting how great the upcoming late December pattern was going to be.

It's just not the same to me. In March the end is near and there is little chance of keeping a snow pack in March. I guess I get irritated when I see the posts, on Dec 17th, that winter has not started yet. They are just folks trying to make the bad news hurt less. LOL. It makes it worse that I read dozens of no nothing tweets, copied over to the MA thread, from amateur Met's who said we would be rockin' right now. I think some of the posts just from a couple weeks ago suggested we were heading into one of our best patterns in years.

We are pretty much punting the first 1/3 of winter if the long range models are correct so we better enjoy this cold weather the rest of the week. And please no winter has not started yet replies, LOL...winter is 17 days old and will be 1/3 over when the turn to 2020. December is more Winter than March.

We have decent returns over us right now with elevated surfaces freezing rain...no snow yet from the second round. 31.

I am sure glad this December is shaping up to be a great one per all the Twitter feeds people keep posting on the MD LR Thread! What's that? That was last week? Shorts on Christmas? Tweeting long scientific looking posts does not actually equate to snow? We will be rockin' in Mid-January?

On the plus side, and has been commented a lot I believe, this year is already better than last as far as not having to deal with a frying pan December. I know we in or near the LSV were already at 5-10" by this point but a warm December and Christmas is the worst. Still could be warm by the time we get there but so far so good with only occasional spikes in temps.

Current mid range models really suggest an unsettled, up and down week for the LSV...a soaking rain Monday, temps near 60 on Tuesday, Snow on Wed (at least falling), potential for 2-3" of rain over the rest of the week then up near 60 again Sat.

I will chime in my agreement to this thought. The Canadian is the Jim Carrey "so your saying there's a chance" model. Its on par with the NOGAPS/NAV outside of a day or two range.

That is a lot of flying for you. I go to Florida about 13 or 14 times a year so I have to go but it just seems every time I go we have a storm. I am in PA for 3 weeks and the weather is serene then off to Florida and its tracking time. It would not surprise me if @Blizzard of 93 reads this and suggests I go to Florida more often so he gets more snow :-)

12Z Euro is a significant storm. Too Warm for LSV but too far out to worry about that. I am unfortunately supposed to be flying back from Florida that Saturday so as usual travelling in the winter sucks.
