  1. Passage of polar jet from what I’ve read. Could be flurries or snowshowers. Just don’t know yet
  2. Just an opinion but since the pattern change has not taken place yet and it’s been warm from the SSW I wonder if models are still having issues trying to figure out the cold is coming? Of course we know from past experience models have problems even without the SSW.
  3. I’m diehard Carolina fan. Always have been always will be. I can pull for most ACC teams except Duke. No way. But hats off to Clemson Tigers and all tiger fans on here . What a team. Freshman QB and WR. Are you kidding me.
  4. Will the 18Z cave? Just asking Were still a week out. May be another December 8th storm.
  5. I do remember our December storm some wee calling clown maps but much of the storm verified. With as much moisture we are getting lately if you add cold air into the mix and our peak winter time this could be an historic winter coming.
  6. At least it’s something. Better than what we’ve had lately.
  7. It can definitely happen. The storm last month conditions were not perfect but came together well. Look at the storm now in Oklahoma. Wow. Contitions are right there tonight.
  8. I see the SOI index is in the negatve at -7.30. May seem low but last Saturday it was 15.44 so at least it going into the right direction. Also GFS shows a snowstorm on the 16th. I know that still a couple weeks out but according to JB and others that when patern change kicks in. https://weather.us/model-charts/standard/north-carolina/snow-depth-in/20190116-1800z.html
  9. Robert at Wxsouth says Europe and Russia to get very cold while we warm up. Doesn’t the US usually turn cold like Europe in a couple weeks after? If it does turn cold midmonth as it’s supposed to at least it will favor the coldest time period of the year.
  10. Models are having a tough time right now. Give it time to happen.
  11. Really need towatch his video from yesterday. He explains this procedure, strat warming takes time. He’s been saying for weeks now mid January cold starts. I know patience is tough. Im ready for cold and snow too.
  12. Just a thought but since the polar vortex spilt do you think the models are having a hard time trying to figure out what’s going to happen? I know the NAO ,AO andthe PNA are going favorable for the SE.
  13. This is the most optimistic about winter our area has had in a while. Enjoy seeing your post. I’m not a meteorologist but I know what we need in this area for snow and cold and this map looks good. Probably will Be colder than what maps are showing. Have you seen any snow maps lately? Most call them clown maps.
  14. https://weather.us/model-charts/euro/north-carolina/snow-depth-in/20190101-1200z.htmlThis looks pretty good too.
  15. He was spot on on the 10th snowstorm as well. This winter is setting up to be something very special for all the cold and snow fanatics. Like myself.
  16. This may be the year when the fantasy and clown maps have merit.
  17. The radar looks weird. In Surry County we are showing rain. To the east and west of us it is showing snow.
  18. Not doubting anyone but where is this evening and Monday moisture coming from?
  19. I’ve seen your video several times. We were too far north in Surry County and didn’t get a flake. I know that must have been something to see We’re closing in on a foot and it’s still coming down real good. I’m 57 and I have never seen this much snow this early in the winter season. We did get 11 in in Dec 18th 2009.

  22. I second this map. I’ll take it in a heartbeats
  23. Thanks for posting that. Didn’t catch it when first looked at map. I’m 57 and I don’t ever remember seeing a storm of this size this early in the season. WOW
  24. I heard Henry Margusty on accuweather say the same thing years ago. Probably don’t have his name spelled right.
