it There again why do we go out 3 and 4 weeks. Summer looks hot in 6 months. Wow.

We had snow in Surry County today. The ground was getting white. It came down fast and furious for a while. I’m just telling you this because no models were showing this. No mention of snow on our forecast until it was getting close. Just sying storms may come with very little warning

If you are talking about Robert at wxsouth he was not close to punting. He had the flu. He even said on the 6th that a lot of people were thinking he was saying winter was cancelled. He said that was not what he was saying at all. He came out twice on the 14 th with Artic blast next weekend. Not this weekend but next week I don’t understand why when models show a snowstorm in 10’days some say it not going to happen or it’s a clown map. However let models show a warm up coming or a hick up in the model run and some of the same believe its ected in stone.

And the best is yet to come for winter.

That’s what I don’t understand about talk that MJO going warm in long range. We can’t even get a storm settled less than 4 days out but we know that MJO is gong to warm phase because One model says so.

70’s were pretty cold and snowy. Of course we only had 3channels,12 2 and 8, to watch to see if and when winter weather was coming. 12 and 2 always went on the low side so I would go with channel 8 and hope for he was right. 12 and 2 would say 1-3. And channel 8 would say 2-4. Loved it when they came out and bumped the totals up. Frank Deal was on channel 8 and he was great at forecasting winter storm.

Anyone been paying attention to the radar for Washington DC? it started snowing yesterday and it’s still snowing. I’m happy for them but a I’m ready to see that for us in the SE too.

I’m diehard Carolina fan. Always have been always will be. I can pull for most ACC teams except Duke. No way. But hats off to Clemson Tigers and all tiger fans on here . What a team. Freshman QB and WR. Are you kidding me.

I do remember our December storm some wee calling clown maps but much of the storm verified. With as much moisture we are getting lately if you add cold air into the mix and our peak winter time this could be an historic winter coming.

At least it’s something. Better than what we’ve had lately.

It can definitely happen. The storm last month conditions were not perfect but came together well. Look at the storm now in Oklahoma. Wow. Contitions are right there tonight.

I see the SOI index is in the negatve at -7.30. May seem low but last Saturday it was 15.44 so at least it going into the right direction. Also GFS shows a snowstorm on the 16th. Robert at Wxsouth says Europe and Russia to get very cold while we warm up. Doesn’t the US usually turn cold like Europe in a couple weeks after? If it does turn cold midmonth as it’s supposed to at least it will favor the coldest time period of the year.

Models are having a tough time right now. Give it time to happen.

Really need towatch his video from yesterday. He explains this procedure,strat warming takes time. He’s been saying for weeks now mid January cold starts. I know patience is tough. Im ready for cold and snow too.

Just a thought but since the polar vortex spilt do you think the models are having a hard time trying to figure out what’s going to happen? I know the NAO ,AO andthe PNA are going favorable for the SE.

This is the most optimistic about winter our area has had in a while. Enjoy seeing your post. I’m not a meteorologist but I know what we need in this area for snow and cold and this map looks good. Probably will Be colder than what maps are showing. Have you seen any snow maps lately? Most call them clown maps.
