  1. Only 0.19” here. Monthly total is only 0.35”. Driest month in a long time,
  2. I just do one last regular mow with a mulching attachment and presto they are gone. So simple.
  3. .16” here. No wonder the leaves are so nice and crunchy when I walk around my yard..
  4. 26.8º at the house. The growing season is finally over. One more mowing after all the leaves are down and that’s it.
  5. Best color we have had in several years.
  6. Every year I feel stronger that the money spent on this model could be better spent elsewhere. Maybe crystals and a small pyramid.
  7. Clouds cleared just before daybreak here allowing the temp to fall below freezing for the first time this year. Barely below but I’m counting it. 31.3º
  8. It is still there but I believe only an admin can do what you need done. I know I can’t. Try to pm Wow or Stormtracker.
  9. Congratulations. I see you married up. So did I, it’s great!
  10. I don’t worry about that these days. I have a fall/spring setting on my thermostat where I set both heat and air to whatever temp I want and the system switches back and forth as needed. 75/71 currently.
  11. We have a La Niña which tends to give us a warmer and drier winter than normal.
  12. We will be redefining the frequency of these events in the coming years. It’s not your daddy’s climate any more.
  13. I picked up 1.65” yesterday and 2.03” today.
  14. I guess he doesn’t know about the rule. No rescues until at least 24 hours after a wind speed reading of 200 or above. The air has to heal.
  15. I died but I didn’t retire.
  16. Finally!! Some actual authentic banter about Ida.
  17. I’ll let this post remain but it is the last one. This is a storm banter thread. This post has nothing to do with the storm and everything to do with politics. I would hate to have to suspend anyone during this event. For the record, any suspensions I do have to issue will end when Ida is declared a remnant low.
  18. It is brought up every tine there is a hurricane, anywhere. For nine years. At this point it has become the weather forum version of waterboarding.
  19. We are talking hurricanes here not a post-tropical cyclone.
  20. Thanks. If you prefer the blue collar version Mike Tyson said much the same thing in a more direct manner. “Everybody has a plan until they get punched in the mouth.”
  21. The improvements are indeed impressive but there are still unknowns. One of my favorite quotes comes from a 19th century German Field Marshall named Helmuth von Moltke. “No plan of operations extends with certainty beyond the first encounter with the enemy’s main strength.” I tend to hope for the best and prepare for the worst. With all the changes that seem to be happening with our climate I think that might be the best way going forward. It seems to me as if 100 year events are happening every decade.
  22. That storm is going to take off as soon as it clears the Island.
  23. Rare for them to forecast that extreme so quickly from what is now a cat 1. I hope people pay attention.
