The mesos will pick up on the banding better than the globals, a these norlun storms tend to move all over the place. Probably better to wait till later tonight to see where it's going
Hi res aren’t much better but we’ll see tonight as well as radar trends

When I hear the local forecasters saying " COULD be 1 or 2 inches" I know not to pay any more attention to it and hope for another event another day, which hopefully won't be 3-5 years from now LOL.
It’s not even an advisory level event it’s 1-2 maybe at this point

Why is it a bust? It was 1 to 3 all along. Now if we only get a dusting or flurries tomorrow I'd say its a bust. Upton is being conservative and that's wise at the moment.
I don’t think there’s gonna be much accumulation if the rates are as light as models are starting to show. Everything’s covered in salt, it’s during the day, light rates

Turning into a non event/bust quickly. Theme of the last 2 years lol

I think the snow growth and lift is what their banking on which is depicted by some of the short range models
This is what Upton has for Staten Island I don’t get it lol their discussion says 2-3
FridaySnow. Total snow accumulation of 3 to 5 inches. Highs in the lower 30s. Northeast winds 5 to 10 mph. Gusts up to 20 mph in the afternoon. Chance of snow 90 percent.Friday NightMostly cloudy. A chance of snow in the evening. Lows around 18. Northwest winds 10 to 15 mph. Chance of snow 50 percent. -

I think 2-3 is a good forecast for nyc. I don’t understand the negativity this morning
Cause a week that had such potential is basically turn into a cold non event week

I think they are being generous even saying 3 inches for this. 3 inches is the absolute ceiling for this in our area and if it does happen, I think it’s closer to central NJ. Definitely not widespread here. All of the good lifting and surface convergence is south of us with the inverted trough and the good upper dynamics/diffluence with the jet streak and upper low is also south of here. I believe we are going to have bigger dry air and subsidence issues than people are thinking right now, especially given we are north of the IVT, that is going to probably eat up a decent amount of QPF and it may be a virga fest for awhile at the start
Yup. Crazy dc is having a better winter lol we can’t catch a break

This isn’t even advisory level for NYC. Upton said they’d only issue one for travel purposes

Good trend, let’s see if other models pick up on it. Hopefully we’re at the range where NAM can’t be totally trashed.
HRR and Nam…. Hopefully we’re getting a Boxing Day comeback lol

Nam keeps getting stronger but as we know it’s overdone lol
-
Nam showing 60-70mph wind gust and 80s off shore all is well in the world haha
-
Looks like winds will be in the 45-55mph range maybe 60
