I was starting to get nervous about drought, but yesterday and tonight/tomorrow should help out tremendously.
Woke at 0400 today to the sound of sweet, heavy rain.
We are in fine shape now.

Just under 1" in my rain gauge this morning.
That was perfect. We got a nice watering that fell almost entirely overnight.
It looks like another good soaker coming tomorrow.

Sunday morning low was 34.3 and there was frost across the road on the neighbors lawn and roof. About 1/2 the June's around here I see frost somewhere.
I can't remember a weekend with as perfect weather as this last one.

Disagree. The wind was certainly chilly but the late April sun is MUCH warmer on the skin.
Long day at work unfortunately.
I rode my bike to work at sunrise and the sun was pretty low when I was returning home.
I'm looking forward to feeling that sun this weekend.

Updated April 22nd, cool start into 1st week of May. Artic high pressure will help dislodge polar air southward.
Not a good trend for anyone who want a long lasting warmth. The warm air is sitting at north pole.
Cool May means busy hurricane season. High chance east coast will get hit by major hurricane.
What's the connection?

Our power came back on this afternoon after 2.5 days without.
We have a Honda portable generator that I ran in the evening to power the furnace to warm the house up, provide water, and chill the refrigerator.
It was still damn cold in the house when I got up at 0500 and restarted it.
This was a devastating storm for Otsego County and adjacent areas. Lots of infrastructure damage. Even sadder are the fires burning down homes related to improper generator and other equipment misuse.

Yeah I also have very little interest in joining the discord. I’m sure I’ll head there next winter if it’s the only option though.
I’d like to have weather discussion here and everything else can go over there if people want to use discord.

Winter storm watch up here.
The kids were off last week for spring break and they have tomorrow off too as part of that break.
I can already foresee them being home Tuesday now too. What a scam!

I think you hate Winter in Spring as much as I hate Spring in Winter. lol
I love love love snow.
But wasted spring weekends with 30s and 40s and an inch of slush drives me crazy.

I gave this winter a D, just like the last one and the one before that...
I wanted to go lower but an F should be reserved for special debacles...we've had 2 of them here in the last 15 years. I forget which they were though.
If it snows now then this winter goes on double extra secret probation.

I closed the book on this disappointing winter season after having numerous days in the 60s and 70s already. Any accumulating snow at this point will result in a grade deduction.

I was hoping one of Levi or Portillo would sign. It's not a good sign as Portillo will be a FA after next season. Levi we have 2 years left still. Levi is a much better goalie We will make a trade/FA signing this offseason to hopefully solve or goalie issue. We have loads of picks and cap space to make it happen.
I can't see why a young goalie wouldn't be jumping at the chance to come to Buffalo.
It's an up and coming team and if you put in a solid year in the minors you are probably walking straight into an NHL starting job.
They really laid an egg tonight against Tampa Bay. Let's hope it's out of their system for the Toronto game. I'd hate to see Power embarrassed on "home" ice in his first NHL game.

The temp has been slowly falling here.
Now down to 37F and wet flakes are mixing in with the rain.
April!

Well played MXZ. Here's my point and click for the weekend which is utterly craptacular:

Total nighttime snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.SaturdayRain and snow, becoming all rain after 11am. Some thunder is also possible. High near 45. Calm wind becoming west 5 to 7 mph in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.Saturday NightRain showers likely before 10pm, then a chance of rain and snow showers between 10pm and midnight, then a slight chance of snow showers after midnight. Some thunder is also possible. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 30. West wind around 6 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.SundayA chance of snow showers before 1pm, then a chance of rain and snow showers between 1pm and 2pm, then a chance of rain showers after 2pm. At least we have the bills to keep us happy until the Sabres are better
I'm already excited about next fall. I think we are going to have 2 good, exciting teams to root for, for the first time in who knows how many years.

Yeah, we knew about 10 games into the season and I'm not exaggerating. This team is a dumpster fire, even with these last few weeks of garbage time wins I'm not sold there is any real change on the horizon.
I'd say give them a chance.
This is a very different team than the one that took to the ice last fall.
I've been a hockey fan for decades. The Sabres of the last 3 years were unwatchable for me they were so bad. I couldn't get through a game because the lack of skill and more importantly the lack of effort was repulsive.
The talent level now is rising rapidly and the effort is there. So is the coaching. These guys are young and hungry and want to win.
If UPL is any good in goal next year, or they can add a good veteran goalie, they could be competing for a playoff spot this time next year.

I always tell people that April is the worst month to live in upstate NY.
So it's clear that I know that fact.
And yet when April gets here I am still amazed by just how much it sucks.
Cold mud season is vile.

Loving it.
70F with a cool breeze here today. A little chilly for being in the lake but delightful for every thing else.
